The curl is important, especially when done with a full range of movement as it lengthens the "belly" of the muscle and allows it to have more stretch so that torn bicep insertions are reduced. The same as the bent arm pullover (17 second mark) is excellent for shoulder mobility and strengthening as the should socket is the shallowest major socket in the body. It also works in the first part of the movement the triceps to a degree along with the lats.Because the bicep connects into the shoulder, and strengthening it will help with reducing injuries from tackling through people.
