is this something we should seriously look at??? our 2 deep would look something like this
chick/AQM
OP/jenkins
kamalu/wyche
hert/moore
mccord/harris/thomas

DP/kirby
thurston/grace

howard/AC
bush/carter
dallas/fentress
gunter/burns

IDK i think it would work but what do i know???

If you think about a 3-4 is a 5-2-4 thy just use linebackers instead of Ends. too slow for college though

If you think about a 3-4 is a 5-2-4 thy just use linebackers instead of Ends. too slow for college though

yeah but wouldnt it force the offense to stay in and protect if they see 5 downline men instead of a slow LB like kirby covering a slot receiver and if they do go slot then we bring down a safety and go man with a safety deep for help?
 
At the college level you would get killed by quick throws. Your D would spend most of the game chasing slants, crosses and outs. We do have great personnel to run nickel IMHO.
 
Donofrio is one step ahead of you. He implemented the vaunted 3-3-4 lineup against UL.

Schnely ran a 5-2-4 defense when he was at Miami then Jimmy came in and instituted the 4-3 which was THE Staple of Defense and Example of how a college Defense should look for years.
 
With the talent we have I still feel we are more suited for a 4-3. The problem is Dorito would still be in a 4-3, when the other team goes empty with 5 WR's and we would again have LB's covering WR's.

All would depend on the personnel used for this IMO. If I did it I would go with something like this:

Chick/OP/Hert/AQM/Grace with Grace being a hybrid meaning we could move him around in various spots. He could either blitz, cover, or spy if it was a dual threat qb
DP/Armbrister - Once again Armbrister can do a multitude of various things
Burns/Howard/Bush/Carter
If they go spread, **** take DP out and put Dallas in there. So many things we could do with this personnel. All in all I guess a 4-2-5 would be more appropriate and I think we have the personnel to make it work.
 
You think Golden/MDO are going to change now??? Entering week 3 of their 4th season?????
 
What you've seen is what you will see. No logical reason to expect anything else.
