It is what it is. Look where we are. Look what he’s done.. We belong again. I love the man, warts & all. He’s not perfect, but he’s my mouth breather. Trench bullies!

#ThickerKickerIt was dumb and we were lucky to escape with a win. We were 14 pts better and it came down to a fat kickers leg from 48. I think playing results is unhelpful when evaluating outcomes.
This is a guy that’s proven to not have a great killer instinct for closing out games and it’s fair to question his decision making. It makes the game very unfun to watch. But still have to acknowledge a huge W for the program. Some things are working even if not everything
This is my only grip, why we don’t try to take advantage of some speed on the outside with the running game kills me.I am not a negative Nellie, love the win. From our hard rock vantsge point, outside runs were there in 2nd half. Gotta call it.
I like Dawson a lot but was very disappointed during that stretch. He’s been aggressive and I really thought he would go for the jugular but he did not
A HC will tell his OC what he wants to see, but he isn't going to call the plays for him, especially not Mario who has NEVER called plays a day in his life. Mario wanted to wear ND down and Dawson called plays to that effect. The issue is that Mario should have had a better grasp of the momentum in the 3rd and gone for the throat. I'm convinced ND was ready to quit once Miami went up 14 and that's when the gameplan changed.Pattern recognition tells me he and our 155lb OL coach have their fingers all over it. It’s a common denominator with his Oregon tenure.
I think anyone with this take is actually brain dead. They did try airing it out but our WRs were being raped. If we did and stopped the clock yall would be crying.I love this team. They’re complete and can make a deep playoff run. Beck + the young WRs = dangerous once they click. And when Miami actually ran a balanced offense? We cooked one of the top 2–3 defenses in the country. Couple that with pass rushers who can close out a game and it is a team that can beat anybody.
But then… fourth quarter Mario showed up.
It was like Oregon–Auburn déjà vu: dominate for three quarters, then go full “turtle mode.” ND stacks the box, begging us to pass, and Mario says: “What if… hear me out… we run it straight into the teeth of their defense three times in a row?” Meanwhile Carson Beck — aka the best play-action QB in America — is just chilling like an Uber driver waiting for his next ride.
And THEN the grand finale: let’s play for a 47-yard field goal with a kicker whose résumé so far is ‘owns a pair of cleats.’ That’s not strategy. That’s not a 50/50 decision, that’s closer to playing roulette with half your chips on double zero.
Somebody online summed it up best:
“The before and after splits of when Miami went into turtle mode are hilarious. Mario Cristobal tried so hard to give that game away.”
Anyway it all worked out and you can have a season where a lot of low probability events go your way similar to when Auburn and Nick Marshall kept hitting those hail Mary’s but it’d be a lot easier if we just played with better odds.
