He obviously didn’t think there was anything there.Disagree, it was not stuffed to the right, there was enough movement to get the 1 yard we needed. The cut and this slip was unnecessary
its hilarious how dumb this mindset is
when the plays work, you and everyone else credit Dawson
when the plays don't work, it's on mario
does anyone on here REALLY believe that Mario doesn't give Dawson full control?
I’m happy that happened for you.First let's say what a great victory for UM and yes Mario has built this from the ground up with relentless work and dedication. Last night was an environment that was magical and brings back the ole glory days. With that being said we almost gave the game away. The play calling got conservative and you would think after last year the brain trust on this football team would have learned a thing or two. Well they didn't and between Mario & Dawson they both are horrific in that regard.. At the end of the first half Mario got bailed by Beck and the miraculous catch by CJ Daniels. Again, as usual Mario football acumen is ZERO when it comes to clock managaement. Overall I was happy and impressed for a first game and to beat ND. The Golden Domers have a heck of a QB and the game was close because of that kid. He has loads of talent and a bright future. Need to find out what happened in the secondary with the breakdown allowing the ND TE to make a big play with no one in sight. I was very disappointed we didn't hang a minimum of 35 on ND and I attribute that to Dawson and Mario. Both those charlatans need to know when you have opponent down to crush them. Our coaching staff has much to improve upon but the team was great and we need to build on that. GO CANES! I think Deion Sanders and Mario went to the same school for clock management!
I hope not but he is the dumbest day game coach in America but Deion is creeping up on him.Cristobal's game day incompetence is what will hold this team back from truly competing. We will lose 2-3 games that we shouldn't because he's simply deficient in games.
Great enough recruiter of talent to have us in any game, dumb enough to lose ones we shouldn'tCristobal's game day incompetence is what will hold this team back from truly competing. We will lose 2-3 games that we shouldn't because he's simply deficient in games.
I love this team. They’re complete and can make a deep playoff run. Beck + the young WRs = dangerous once they click. And when Miami actually ran a balanced offense? We cooked one of the top 2–3 defenses in the country. Couple that with pass rushers who can close out a game and it is a team that can beat anybody.
But then… fourth quarter Mario showed up.
It was like Oregon–Auburn déjà vu: dominate for three quarters, then go full “turtle mode.” ND stacks the box, begging us to pass, and Mario says: “What if… hear me out… we run it straight into the teeth of their defense three times in a row?” Meanwhile Carson Beck — aka the best play-action QB in America — is just chilling like an Uber driver waiting for his next ride.
And THEN the grand finale: let’s play for a 47-yard field goal with a kicker whose résumé so far is ‘owns a pair of cleats.’ That’s not strategy. That’s not a 50/50 decision, that’s closer to playing roulette with half your chips on double zero.
Somebody online summed it up best:
“The before and after splits of when Miami went into turtle mode are hilarious. Mario Cristobal tried so hard to give that game away.”
Anyway it all worked out and you can have a season where a lot of low probability events go your way similar to when Auburn and Nick Marshall kept hitting those hail Mary’s but it’d be a lot easier if we just played with better odds.
You got a point, would’ve loved to see us bury them when we got the ball back up 21-7ND is a very good team. We still coached not to lose at that point in the game and the board is now tripping over itself to justify it.
he couldn't because the end made him go left into 70 because the TE didnt get to the end to block him. he was late. The play call wasn’t the problem on that 3rd and 1 at all, it’s a first down if brown simply attacks where the play was designed to go instead of cutting back smh, prolly should’ve had fletch toting the rock on that play
Nope if he just runs hard behind the right side he has a first down, the cut back was unnecessaryGreat success running behind monsters on right side of our OL. Notre Dame anticipated, stuffed it & Brown tried getting back to left when he lost footing. Credit to ND on the play.
he didn't even have to go for the jugular, just a first down to move the chains, keep the ball for another 2 minutes at least and rest the DI like Dawson a lot but was very disappointed during that stretch. He’s been aggressive and I really thought he would go for the jugular but he did not
he did last yearProbably said it once or twice before but Mario will cost us at least one game this year if not two, he got lucky last night.
Not sure about that. ND obviously where we were going with the play.Nope if he just runs hard behind the right side he has a first down, the cut back was unnecessary
On the replay it looked like there was enough momentum from the line on the right to get that 1 yard but it is what it is we didn’t get it …last year that was automatiche couldn't because the end made him go left into 70 because the TE didnt get to the end to block him. he was late.
