I had a chance to talked with one of Miami's top 2028 recruiting targets -- four-star running back Xander Edwards.
Edwards, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound running back out of Jacksonville, Florida, plays high school football at The Bolles High School. He continues to build a strong relationship with the Hurricanes coaches, and told CanesInSight that he is looking to come down to Coral Gables for a gameday visit.
According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he is currently viewed as a four-star prospect. 247 ranks him as the nation's No. 117 player overall, No. 7 running back, and No. 17 player out of Florida.
This past season with The Bolles High, he recorded a total of 2,629 rushing yards on 265 attempts, while punching in 44 rushing touchdowns.
Which schools are going the hardest after you in your recruitment right now:
"A couple schools are Miami, Florida, Wisconsin, Indiana, Georgia, and Ohio State."
Where does Miami currently stand in your recruitment?
"Miami is definitely up there on my list, just by the relationship I have with the coaches, and how they are telling me I'm their top guy."
How’s your relationship with Mario Cristobal and coach Upshaw?
We have a very strong relationship and im excited to build this relationship even more by visiting as many times as I can."
Do you plan on taking a visit to Miami anytime soon, and if so, when?
Yes I am. I definitely going to make it down there for a game, and see what the atmosphere looks like."
