4 Simple Reasons Why Butch Davis Should Be The Next Coach

He may not be hired at UM, but he'll be getting some offers.

He was courted by Arkansas previously, and they may come after Butch yet again.

After all, he's a former Razorback, like Jimmy Johnson.

They'd get a **** of a coach, and he'd get a **** of a paycheck. They actually want a good coach. And they won't dik him around like UM did before.

You do realize that at one point Steve Spurrier was a rumored to the next Miami HC ....... if they arent hired ,,,, it doesnt count

people clamoring for Butch cant view this from an unbiased perspective. A lot of things look great on paper. Living in DC I can see many parallels with DC natives wanting Joe Gibbs back.. They just wanted things to be the way they were... He came back and it was clear things had changed... life moved on from his time in DC from many years ago..

Its not an automatic home run.

Another good reason to hire Butch is that when whiney *** b$tch Miami fan Getz upset with him they won't have to pay for a new banner and can just fly the one from the last Time Butch coached here and Miami fan tried to run him out of town.

Another day, another slurper. Go kick rocks!

It's not like Fraulden has destroyed the program or anything.

By the way, only whiny *** bytch on this thread is you.

Capiche?

FIRE AL GO! BRING BACK BUTCH!

People forget Butch had 10 scholly reductions for his first 2 years. By year 4 he went 11-1 and should have been in the NC game. That's a great record by any stretch. People who dismiss him outright are ignorant. I can assure you there will be a public outcry if he isn't given a fair shot to be the next head coach.

I have two more:

* There would be several future NFL HCs on our coaching staff cause Butch has that eye.

* We would save money on banners for at least 3 or 4 years (Can't ignore the fact that we flew one on Butch)

Wait, one more:

* We would have something to celebrate besides the ice cream truck.

Ridley and Peete wouldn't even still be here..... they dont have the grades to get into Miami...Lane still wasnt coming (10000% facts)...Calloway was a die hard Gaytor fan.... Coley still a stud, just injuries killing him..... stop slurping Butch please. ... we need Chud or somebody else

Wait, that is fair. But what it means is that Butch will know in advance that he must win and not just talk bs. I'm okay with flying one his first game like "Welcome Back Butch. Win faster this time - you know how we roll."

If you bring Butch back then how bout bringing Winston Moss as the asst head coach/d cord from Green Bay. He's the asst head coach there and linebackers coach. For icing on the cake, bring Alonzo Highsmith to be the AD. He's green bays GM right hand man. He's well respected in the nfl and he's a tireless worker. Discuss....

You sound unintelligent for comparing a College Coach to a NFL coach. Totally different environment. Ask Chip Kelley.

Exactly. Butch would no doubt bring in talent....it's one of his only elite qualities. The turnaround wouldn't be at the pace we all would hope for. The past doesn't equal the future. Half the fans calling for butch were barely in diapers when he was head coach here anyway.

Grades are one thing but u can bet your *** 3/4 of the studs Folden missed WOULD play for Butch. They want an NFL payday and Butch will provide.

OP, first off, extremely solid points.

Butch, is a known product...he's a safe bet. The U part 2 did nothing but re-introduce Butch to the younger generation. His name is extremely hot within So. Fla and there's no doubt in my mind, had Golden been fired last year and Butch came on board, on strength alone, our class would've shot up to a top 15 ranking.

Butch won 3 Big East titles under heavy sanctions. He went 3-0 in bowl games under heavy sanctions, won the State of Fla in his last year here including mopping UF in the Sugar Bowl when we were free of sanctions. He should've had one national title under his name b/c there was no doubt we would've mopped OU and their qb of Josh Heupel. They only put up 13 pts against FSU and FSU had no business being in that game (I digress)

He's probably even more knowledgeable now since he's been a color analyst which means he breaks down more game film today, than yesteryear. People clamour over Jon Gruden to get back into coaching and dude hasn't been a coach in 7 yrs, but b/c he's always on Sunday QB and you can hear his intelligence when it comes to X's and O's, people say, "he still has it."

Guess, what? Anyone who's listened to Butch over the radio or seen him on TV, knows he's still has it...and truthfully, he probably has it more now. He still hates seeing Miami lose...you can see it every time he's asked to speak on them at either halftime or after the game. He clearly identifies why Miami has struggled.

He wants the job, he's desperate for the job, and he's desperate to right the wrong. He'll come for $2m vs. having to pay $3-4 for someone else. He'll automatically bring credibility to the program and kids in the State will come back. He'll bring a Miami tradition back to Miami, reunite the fan base, reunite the alumni, former players will be able to be mentors again vs feeling alienated. There's just way too many positives, and not enough negatives to not justify this hire.
