1. Caleb Johnson needs to take reps away from Flagg
2. Malik Curtis needs to take reps away from Ivey. If not him, Graves or M Williams
3. Chase Smith needs to take reps away from Steed & Keontra. If not him, Bissainthe.
4. Kelly needs to take pass rushing reps from all DEs not named Messidor

If these 4 (or their alternatives) win their battles with the current starters, I see us sweeping the Coastal and going punch-for-punch vs. Clemson and A2M, maybe even winning one of those battles.

I thought you were getting ready to say Ivey in that top 4

The Ivey (primarily) and Flagg scenarios are just inexplicable. I'll defer to those more insightful, but maybe yesterday we didn't play/show the type of coverage that best suits Ivey. Otherwise, his performance was typical of what we've seen. The slant was easy pickin's and there was the missed tackle that led to a big gain. I'd also throw Daryl Porter's hat in the ring for that spot. Couch too settled in and made a couple plays at nickel. Typically coaches want a corner with Ivey's measurables, but....

Hard to fathom a 2nd team All-Conference LB not unseating the incumbent at MLB...smh. Bissainthe flashed, as a few have noted, so I'd include him in the competition for the other LB spot.

Thomas Davis too for a potential pass rush role. Need to see Agude more, but I prefer him to those not named Messidor.
If the WDE's can't generate pressure we might as well go big and get Moultrie, Roberts, Lichtenstein more reps.

Stevenson was roasted way worse than Ivey but our fanbase needs someone to yell about.

Wild stuff
Well one guy pretty much shut his side of the field down the second half of the year last season, so actually playing really well gets you some slack. Ivey on the other hand has multiple issues every game including yesterday It’s over kill at this point with 8 but that doesn’t make it not true. So it’s not that wild.

Need one of the WR outside of Restrepo to step up and be a guy that scares teams
I’m hoping that between the 4 outside guys they all make plays and no matter who is on the field you have to account for them which leads to 1 on 1s for everyone and TVD can go through the play and hit the open man. I liked seeing Redding get that TD grab. Wish I could see it from a different angle, only saw it from the backside on the condensed game.

Some of these things could certainly happen as the season progresses

Stevenson has his faults as well, but nothing like Ivey.
Removing everything he's done from past years as this scheme is completely different the knit picking and hopefulness this fanbase has for this kid to suck and kick him whenever they can is wild.

What we need is for Mario to continue to recruit at a high level.

If that happens we won't have undersized slow LB's, or CB's who run 4.7's, get WRs that are explosive, and we will start having DL consistently drafted in the top 3 rounds.

removing everything from past years is ignoring the obvious pattern. different staffs, different schemes.. same results. No, I'm not over the GT fake punt.

Then he will be replaced but his play yesterday does not warrant the lunacy I heard at the game and see on message boards.

It's silly.

I’m with you here

I want to see people other than Flagg and Ivey take reps sure, but the way the fans react is embarrassing at this point

Not that I think they would understand that point because that’s what makes them “them” but it’s more cringe than the play on the field at this point that’s for sure

I dunno what you heard at the game yesterday but what I've seen on the boards is mostly warranted imo. It's the same we've seen from him for years now. It's not good.

I feel that is inevitable. But I'm greedy and want to outperform this season in order to speed up the process by closing with guys like Okunlola and ****ey, maybe even Fletcher. Wins will help a lot with the kids holding off until December and February to commit.

Steed played well I thought. Lost a step after dealing with his injuries but he makes fairly good reads and tackles well.

Absolutely, Steed looks the part now, and I'm super happy for him and his family. For OLB, we need more "or" guys who can sub in and keep everyone fresh like we have on the line and at Safety. Again, I'm talking about shocking here, meaning we run the table with the coastal and ideally pop off one of A2M and Clemson -- i.e. a 10+ W season.

Ivy has literally single handily lost us multiple games over the years. He should have hit the portal. he's the worst. Flagg is too slow too.
