4 more days for a Portal WR. Tell me the good news.

Similar heights (5’10, 5’11) but Smith is already more physically developed (195, 177) and same speed, both verified 4.4 guys.

Brashard more versatile and can take real snaps from RB.

Brashards playing speed shows up more than Zays IMO (just watched 20 min of tape on Zay 2021)
But, with all due respect, you’re assuming he will produce. Being physically developed and versatile does not automatically mean he’ll become a great college WR.

Yes, he has potential, but Flowers has already produced at a consistent, high level in a Power 5 conference with mediocre quarterback play.

Brashard is a better Zay 🤷🏽‍♂️

Great point and I respect it. If Smith was in the same games, starting role as Zay I’d contend he’d have better displays.

Head to head he out performed Zay vs. VT on a handful of plays.

Watch the film on Zay. He’s fairly unspectacular in the open field.

Brashards potential >>>> Flowers production

I don't have to make a trade.

Would I take Zay's production and add him to what we already have? Heck yeah I would. He's tailor made for Gattis' O.
I feel you. I just don’t see that much on film. He’s a nice player, definitely won’t take that from him. But if I’m risking losing a Smith, it’ll be for a Jaylen Robinson not for a guy who at best is a complementary piece who got more than half his yards in 4 games vs non bowl teams (Colgate, FSU, Umass, SYR)

Not to mention, if Brashard was only potential Gattis wouldn’t have been on him all spring. He already has packages strictly for Smith. He’s a big timer, don’t know how y’all don’t see it.

Only on this board would people yawn over a first-team All-ACC receiver with 14 TDs scored in his first 2 seasons because we have a kid on the roster who has 14 career catches under his belt, more than a third of which came against a team we beat 69-0. Glad to know the weed in Miami is still fantastic.

Right up there with Chase Smith being scared of transfer LBs taking away his minutes.

Obviously we are trying to get Gentry down for an OV but to my knowledge the two names we are waiting on to enter the portal at LB are the only ones we would consider taking outside him as of today. Goes without saying that these guys aren’t backup caliber, they would start.
are we able to know "the two names"?

Guess this is a fake fact.

Also, if we're talking facts, he actually has 19 career TDs in 3 years. I said 14 in his first 2 years because last year his numbers took a little dip as Jurkovec missed over half the season. But Zay still averaged 17 yards a catch for the season, a career high, even though he was catching passes for most of the year from a former walk-on.

I'm not knocking Brashard. I'm excited about him. But as @IndayArtHauz mentioned, BC's athletic director isn't talking to Radakovich about a trade. We don't have to give up Brashard Smith. And I don't even think Zay Flowers is an alpha, #1 WR and wouldn't be a direct replacement for Rambo. But when someone mentions him, given our flashing neon question mark at receiver, it's silly to **** on the idea because we have a kid who has proven exactly zero.

It was a theoretical on the trade. I was just making it a player to player comp.

But it IS a risk that we lose him to the portal if we Add someone in front of him who he comps well to. I’m not willing to take that risk for someone I’m not impressed by on film.

And I don’t think I **** on the idea, just said smith was better 🤷🏽‍♂️
