That's the average score heading into the 4th quarter over our last three games.

What are people's feelings on Golden taking his foot off the gas in the 4th? We seem to go ultra conservative on both sides of the ball with a big lead. I understand wanting to run the clock out. It makes sense. We don't have a ton of depth so the sooner the game ends, the better. However, the 2nd and 3rd stringers are begin deprived of a chance at developing. We likely won't blow out any of the final three teams we face, but if we do I'd like to see a more aggressive approach in the 4th q.

Not worried. Get PT for the backups.

Who are you rooting for on Nov 15?

Yeah, the experience is what really counts. I just wish they were allowed to run our offense, blitz, do the things we did to build the big lead.

Rooting for Miami. I think we can win. I care more about knocking off FSU than I do about what this win would mean for our program because I don't think Golden is the guy.

Honest answer. Repped.

We beat Arizona 36-9 in 1991 in case anyone was wondering

Would you preffer him leaving in starters and having them get hurt? Duke and Flowers..

I'd rather win 60-0, but I'd also rather not have Duke or Denzel get hurt in the 4th quarter of a 60-0 game, so, there's that.

No. I don't have a problem with the backups playing. I have a problem with taking the foot of the gas pedal.

Let Heaps come in and run the offense. If Kaaya goes down, Heaps has very few reps of real action since he just hands the ball off.

Let the backups on defense play aggressively instead of keeping everything in front of them.

I just think it would be better for their development.

I don't love it but depth is a problem so I understand getting in the backups

Much rather be taking foot off the gas and getting backups PT. If we're going to burn redshirts, play them. Also don't want Duke or Kaaya taking shots in a game already long decided.

This new version of Golden may turn out to be very successful here. My biggest concern is what took so ******* long for him to make a change?

Play the backups, but also play the same type of game. Be aggressive on the O and the D. Don't go into the lame prevent.

Don't mind the way the offense is being run, necesarrily. We are going to be a run team and we keep getting dinged on the oline, so we need to get those backups as many reps driving the pile forward against real live ammo as possible.

As for the defense, I hate the ******* prevent with passion. My girl's dad calls it the "collapse" defense and that is about the best description possible.

But..but...but...FSU rallies in the second half, so no matter what the score may be we better come out of halftime like the game just started.

I could see us taking a big early lead (14 points or more) against FSU with the way each team has been playing. How confident would we be after halftime if that's the case?

Jameis plays out of his mind in second halves and when needed at ends of games, I'll be drunk, happy and excited, but confident, not really.

It'll be a different story against us to the extent they'll be amped & ready to make a statement. No sleepwalking through the first half.

Against UL Crablegs got away with some super risky throws. If Dorito doesn't attack and goes back into his death by a thousand cuts shell, we're doomed. But mix it up like we been doing on D we'll have a chance, especially if we can get some bruises on Rapeis and make him hurry into some picks.

Maybe UVA beats him up a bit more? He was hobbling pretty good last week.

I've always worried Golden would be too conservative. Your question is legit.

I think he should absolutely keep trying to score points with the regular O and D schemes ... Just do it with back-ups in the game. Plus, with the current clock rules, unless Heaps and/or Williams are throwing incompletions, the clock will still run out.

Get reps for the young players who practice just like the others and who need experience so they're not rookies when called upon. Also make sure your starters don't get hurt and stay fresh. Butch Davis did this. And if you recall, it's why UM didn't play for the NC in 2000. UM was up 30-3 (or something like that) at half against Louisiana Tech. Butch put in the young guns and the final score was something like 41-27 (going from memory; easy to look up). The game wasn't anywhere near that close either. UM killed them but the final score did not reflect it. The spread was not ****, and the computer polls punished UM for it. Those tiny fractions of points would have made the difference that year in the final rankings.

But I supported BD for doing it then and I support AG for doing it now.
