Have to agree, play the back-ups, but run the same offense, I knew Heaps wasn't going to throw the ball once he got in, you almost feel cheated when the back-ups come in because you know the show is over...good problem to have though.

Funny, but true, for all the bad press Miami gets they've never been a program to RUTS, maybe Jimmy on ND, but hey...
 
My take is when they put the backups in, they don't trust them. So, instead of having someone blow an assignment and give up an easy TD, they revert to the bend don't break, eat up the clock approach.
 
I agree with the OP in that there is a difference between taking the starters out and playing very very conservative and let the lead shrink.
I would like our backups to play aggressive, the second team defense tries to shut them out and the second team offense tries to score as much as possible. I hate running out the clock just for the sake of running out the clock. Score when you can. Period.
