3 better guys to watch

Markel Bell - Run game shouldn’t be a problem but has he improved at all from below average pass blocker? If ND has any guys that can bend on those 3rd and longs will he still struggle there? Can he finally make it out to the 2nd level on those screen passes Dawson loves to throw?( Missed his assignment a few times because he was to slow getting there)

Wes Bissanthe - bulked up enough to hopefully not get swallowed up in the run game and should be protected more with a better more disciplined Dline. Can he line up in the correct position and not get taken out of plays if the Dline stunts leaving the edge wide open? Will he like the rest of the back 7 stop panicking and know what to do when ND puts one simple person in motion? I know we highlight Troure as a transfer but tbh Wes is the key today in the front 7.

Bert Auburn- Most think this is going to be a back and forth game so it might end up coming down to how many fgs Auburn makes or misses today that determines if Miami wins. Can he go back to being the guy who set a BiG12 record for 19 consecutive FGs made? Or will he fall back to last years abysmal 64% rate?

Offense: Carson Beck

Of course. Carson Beck is the guy who’s going to decide this game for Miami. He came over from Georgia, where he threw for almost 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns, so everyone knows he can sling it. He had an elbow injury, but now he’s back and ready to roll. If he’s hitting his receivers and not turning the ball over, Miami’s offense is going to move the ball all night. But if Notre Dame’s defense gets to him early, it could be rough. Beck’s the one player who can make Miami’s offense look unstoppable or stuck, and that’s why all eyes will be on him.

I'm ready to see what Beck can do today, and the nation will be watching going up against one of the best defenses in the country.

Offense: Mark Fletcher

Mark Fletcher is the hammer in Miami’s backfield, and he’s going to have a huge role against Notre Dame. At 6’2”, 230 pounds, he’s tough to bring down and can wear out a defense over four quarters. Last season, he flashed that power but battled some injuries, and now he’s healthy and ready to be the lead back. If Fletcher is breaking tackles and picking up tough yards, it makes life way easier for Carson Beck and the passing game. Miami wants to control the clock and keep Notre Dame’s offense on the sideline, and Fletcher is the guy who can do it.

Defense: Rueben Bain

Rueben Bain is Miami’s defensive leader coming into the 2025 season, even though he missed all of last year after getting hurt in the Florida game. When healthy, Bain is a tackling machine who can stop the run, maybe drop into coverage, and make big plays all over the field. His size, speed, and instincts let him read plays before they happen, and now that he’s fully recovered, he's expected to set the tone for the defense. If Bain is flying to the ball like he did before his injury, he could completely disrupt Notre Dame’s offense and be a game-changer for Miami.
Beck has to ball out. Miami defense has to make Carr look like Arch. If that happens game over.

Auburn has to make everything inside of 40 yards.

Minor but Bain didn’t miss all of last year. He missed 4 games.

Yes, while Beck is the leader, II view Fletcher and Bain as the heart and soul of this team. I expect for them to show up tonight.

We know what Bain and Messidor can do. The young guys like Lightfoot, Blount,Scott need to have a big night. If our pass rush is effective, I don’t see how we won’t win this game

Are we 100% sure Auburn will take the field goals? I assume Davis will do kickoffs, but I think field goal kicker is still up in the air. Auburn has more experience in these big games, but I think Davis has the stronger leg. I’m curious to see who they trot out there

Bain didn’t miss the entire season .. he played the last 7/8 games

If Mario Cristóbal keeps trotting Fletcher over Lyle than he is setting himself up to lose. The better talent is Lyle.
Maybe Lyle and Fletcher can be a version of what Bush and White were for USC back in the day. Lyle may get less carries but he can be that explosive threat that ends up with more yardage. Both WILL play pivotal roles on this team.
