247 Updated Rankings

Rivals Industry and 247 Composite are supposed to be the same **** thang, ain’t it? Both 1/3 splits of On3/Rivals + 247 + ESPN? So why are we ranked higher on Rivals industry (#2) compared to 247 composite (#3)?

In case anyone is interested, I’ve posted this a few times over the years but I’ve been tracking our classes under Cristobal compared to the prior 13 years (when the 247 composite started) and just updated it.

This class is on pace to be our best ever (by a significant margin, when you factor in average ranking, blue chip ratio, etc) and right there with Mario’s last class at Oregon.

It’s always been about the numbers to the top right for me though, and we’re bringing in high level talent at a volume that just blows away what we did for over a decade.

We are going to have a top 3 roster in the country every year moving forward under Mario. And honestly, Clemson and FSU ****ed themselves when they tried to challenge the ACC competitive balance. All they did was awake a sleeping giant in Miami now that ACC team(s) who compete in the CFP get to keep all the money to themselves. Ain't no other ACC team making that 12 team playoff

This is dope and mos def interested.

An Oregon fan put together their historical track record in recruiting: Mario had a lasting, sustainable impact on that program. When considering Cyrus Moss, TJ Dottery, Kelvin Banks Jr, Cameron Williams, Gracen Holton, and Tetairoa McMillan all flipped to other schools after Mario left—he would’ve had the fifth best class in 2022.

I remember Fabian Moreau badly wanted to go to Oregon but they never recruited him. A lot of top players loved those Oregon teams w/ the variety of jerseys, the Nike factor, saw the school when they went to The Opening, etc; however, Kelly and Helfrich never capitalized on that halo Effect that is steadfast now.

I really wish 247 and/or Rivals would just drop espn from their composites. Does anyone even work on that recruiting staff anymore?
I believe that guy @theucreport on X does. But yeah their staff is tiny. It’s him and Tom Luginbill and one or two more. Anyone else there doesn’t have sway like that.

ESPN’s crew is still in charge, or heavily involved, with the under armour all American game invites so we have situations where Jayce Johnson, Kamden Lopati and Peyton Houston are top 5 quarterbacks only on ESPN—noticeably all 3 dudes who were under armour all Americans as juniors.
