How is possible Frenk could not have understood that before?
Other priorities...

Remember when Miami was “broke” & “couldn’t afford it”??

Lol... We never have money for anything, now all of sudden we just found $25million just laying under the couch.

It just goes to show, that the people in charge have always had plenty of cash to fix the problem, they just never gave a sh*t, but now because one of their Aseres is available they’re willing to fork up the money smh.

Nothing worse than being greedy & willfully incompetent.

We have three billionaires stepping up, UHealth has made a $100M+ annual turnaround, and the Soffer's changed their game. Things are different now.

Scenario: Company has CEO announce retirement. Everyone in company knows COO is getting the job. Expensive search firm is hired and big press release about nationwide search to find the best candidate. Search firm rubber stamps COO as the best option in the entire U.S. of A. Company issues press release that COO has been selected after an exhaustive search of the whole country for the best person to lead us forward. The national search firm was effectively hired to present other candidates and present options just in case the COO wasn't the best choice. It gave the board cover to hire their choice and say they did their due diligence.

Miami is just doing the same.

*Company went bankrupt in under 5 years, but that's another story.

We are all hearing money isn’t an issue, but now OP saying 6 mil salary for a coach. JFC Tucker just got 8 mil +.... are really going to get a top coach with 6 mil?? WTF

I can see Diaz staying.

-Beat VT convincingly and the fire Manny chant subsides ever so slightly.

-Beat Duke and the chant dies off a bit more.

-Mario makes it clear he is not available and then it almost makes sense to keep Manny and wait for Mario if no other homerun candidates emerge.

-Diaz salvages the recruiting class and or wins the off-season again by bringing in high caliber portal transfers.

-TVD and company beat TXAM to start the 22 season and the team starts winning the one-score games instead of losing them.

-With TVD, I can see this team being a 1 or 2 loss team regardless of the coach in 2022. If Manny is around for this ride to 10+ wins then what do you do?

The new AD will have to consider the possibility of this scenario playing out.

They could have started the process and had a small group of quality candidates identified and warm. Then, once the firing became official they were surprised by the amount of interest and decided to open things up and hire a firm.

Or the firm is just being used to background check/vette the group they already have selected.

Could be a number of things but nothing wrong with evolving if its warranted. They absolutely should do whatever it takes to end up with the best group of finalists there are.

Well, that is not a bad thing but after reading Cribby’s post that you already know your 1 target and if that doesn’t work out then your “search” starts makes me speculate that way.

There are some differences between the AD search and the HC search. I think the AD search is complicated by considerations of how to structure the Athletic Department going forward. I realize that some guys are going to crap on the UM-alum candidates, but at least guys like Gino and Alonzo have put a lot more thought into this (and are likely sacrificing more salary if they take a role with UM).

Manny was a minority hire though.

A good and humorous point.

I also don't think we did a public announcement and/or search when we hired Richt...and I won't even make any further jokes on ethnicity, though he might have gotten credit for hiring someone with a cognitive disability (his son).

I mean...in all fairness...UHealth has finally outgrown its initial (over)payment price and is starting to make Scrooge McDuck money.

It's not couch-cushion money, but if we can hire a UM President who is even more football-friendly (and knowledgeable) than Julio, we might just have a newfound advantage.

How many other P5 programs literally own the largest health system in the largest urban area in the 3rd largest state in the country? It's a license to print money.

But, yeah, some people are still going to bash Shalala, no matter what logic and facts are presented.
How much money we talking?

Manny staying into next year died when he lost to FSU. Can we please Stop with the Zo has to be apart of the program some how without having a AD in place to make that hire. Would he help and be successful probably but that’s like telling a Head coach we want to hire you but you have to keep this coordinator. Let’s let the AD decide who he wants to bring in.
