2027 QB Scoop

Lawerence has not reclassified and hasn’t said anything publicly about doing it. As of right now he isn’t in the picture so no one is concerned with him for next year
Hence my point. If that is the mentality that we are rocking with and we are truly going and willing to pay for the #1 QB in 27, then I very highly doubt we are then going to also get Lawrence in 28, or then drop that dude in 27 if Lawrence does reclassify which everyone is saying he will.... No matter how you slice it it is a waste of money and effort or we just aren't going that hard for Lawrence. Idk how many times it needs to be shown the better strategy is top portal QB rather than spending millions on highly rated HS QBs sitting on the bench for multiple years when that money can go to contributors. If you go for a 5star QB out of HS that's fine. But they better start 3 years.

Why they can’t get Lawrence in 28? If they are willing to pay then that’s what it is

....so right back to my entire point that that's an incredible waste of money...
If they have it and want to bring in 2 high profile qbs then let them do it lol. All of it is talk anyway. Probably won’t get the haven kid all his top schools are sec

Unexpected portal situation at QB…but don’t be surprised if the injured Penn State QB Drew Allar gets the medical redshirt and someone in his circle gets asked…..”You see what Mario Cristobal has done with Cam Ward and Carson Beck? Willing to hop in the portal and take a visit?”

#1 QB Elijah Haven
#1 RB Kemon Spell
#1 T Mark Matthews
#4 WR Nick Lennear

Just throwing it out there..

… so then waste of time and effort which was also my point lol

from Manny Navarro back in June:

Is there a program Haven would like to visit before making a final decision?

“Miami, I’ve never been up there,” Haven said. “They were one of the schools that contacted me on June 15, but as far as making it out there, we haven’t planned it. Seeing what Cam Ward did last year, it’s definitely one of those schools I could see myself playing at with the playing style he had.”

Does playing for a national championship contender matter to Haven?

“That’s definitely something I want to strive for,” Haven said. “But I’m not going to go to a school just because they won a lot.”

Impossible to answer that question - we won’t know until he takes a snap, or at least gets to campus and goes against our guys.

I’m on the portal QB train as well, and always have been. You go with the QB every year that gives you your best chance of winning that year, and if it’s in the portal then portal it is - simple as that. I never cared about hurting kids’ feelings, or hurting our chances of landing HS QBs in the future because none of that matters if you are 1.) paying and 2.) winning. But the pub that comes with landing a 5* QB and the pull they typically have with other skill players is always worth exploring. Like @DMoney stated though, having a plan is important. But no, I wouldn’t give any HS QB Underwood money nowadays. You sell them on Ward and Becks (knock on wood) success, them being protected and our upward trajectory and offer them a deal that doesn’t kill us. If no beuno, then ✌🏾. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Looking at the 24 class

Lagway-meh
Sayin-Transferred to OSU after 1 season
Raiola-solid
Kromenhoek-thrown into a dumpster fire at FSU then transferred after 1 year
White-Transferred after 1 season to Baylor where he has not played
Carr-looks promising
Noland -Transferred after year 1 and had yet to play
Grunkmeyer-tbd, barely played
Davis- Has completed more passes to the defense than his own team so far
Pugilisi- Had more picks than TDs so far in limited PT. UGA does seem to like him tho

If you go to the 2023 class… it’s probably worse in terms of % playing at a high level and % who are still playing on their original teams.
Whos Davis? BTW Julian sounds fruity when talking

… so then waste of time and effort which was also my point lol
Not a waste of time. What if they do get him tho? It’s my opinion they won’t but I don’t get why it’s bothering you that they are going after elite guys

There is usually a ton of ancillary value with landing a 5 star QB. Your class should get a bump as a whole as a top QB naturally attracts other talent. That said, I agree that the portal route is now a proven route especially for Miami.
