2027 QB Scoop

I’ll believe it when I see it. If he were a 3* kid maybe low 4* from Baton Rouge I’d be more willing to believe. But #1 qb, from BR, I’m not a believer. But go canes regardless.

How? Another question, do you believe in stacking chips and signing kids who aren’t scared to compete?

Lets say Lawrence reclassifies, we sign him and the #1 QB or the AL kid…. Im sure the first concern is NIL resources but the cream will rise and the odds show, the loser of the QB battle transfers, we’re only on the hook NIL wise for 1 year.

Yes, we’ve had a great run with transfers QBs starting with D’Eriq but look around college football 2025. Freshmen QB’s are coming in ready in some cases. The best 11 can include a high school senior named Baby Jesus…. Can be a QB too.
 
He looked good at the UnderAmor Camp at IMG this summer. I thought Miami was going to get a visit at that point. He was saying he wanted to visit then. I know Ivans comped him to J. Brisset.
 
If you can bring in a 5 star, you gonna do it. My issue is paying them crazy money to sit. Or paying them crazy money where you have no choice but to play them even when they are not ready. That's my issue with that, because there will be growing pains, where you losing 2,3 maybe 4 games. Is man gonna be here saying give it time? Some wanted Cristobal gone after the loss to GT 2 years ago.

I believe it’s already likely a Waste to go for top QBs. lol signing Lawrence and the bama kid would be criminal NIL utilization

Let’s just say at this time our only scholarship QBs are Coleman and Nickel… which is a real possibility you say no?

So is our plan to get this #1 kid? If not then why are we wasting our time and money recruiting him? That's my point. In no world are we getting this dude and Lawrence. So either we aren't really going for Lawrence like that, or we are 1000% wasting money time and effort.

We need 2 qbs. But we don't need 2 expensive qbs. Especially since we will likely be spending on portal Qb next season and then I guarantee IF we aren't going portal AGAIN in 27, then Nickel or Coleman are guaranteed to want more money...

I get your point. But to be fair, I don’t recall anyone being pumped when we landed Matocha. We’ve had some really weak QB takes over the years. He ranks right down there with Cannon Smith, Spencer Whipr and Evan Shirreffs as the worst QBs on scholarship.

We’ve had so many terrible backup QBs (and a few bad starters). Maybe a kid like this finally fixes that situation?

Because that’s recruiting, the # 1 kid, Lawrence, AL kid has every school going all out for them. Getting 2 out of the 3 is a win.

If you portal 27 that’s an indictment on the QB coach. Every other room is developing players, if Nickel in year 3, Coleman in year 2, **** Emory year 5 aint it we failed.

There will definitely be growing pains but even if the expectation is for him to start as a Freshman, we shouldn't be losing 4 games in the ACC in year 6 with the trenches Mario is building. I don't see a problem with paying a 5 star QB crazy money to sit 1 year to develop just like I don't see a problem with paying a 5 star OL/DT to sit a year while they develop. Especially if we don't need to grab a QB in the portal that year because we developed one of Coleman/Nickle into the starter.

Not the same for me. Its easier to get elite level QBs out of the portal simply because of the nature of the position, than it is to get elite level DL and OL. Also u can easily lose 4 games with a true FR QB. The playbook is significantly reduced, you can lose a bunch of 1 score games even if you have a elite roster. Bunch of 20-17 and 17-14 type scores.
 
Unexpected portal situation at QB…but don’t be surprised if the injured Penn State QB Drew Allar gets the medical redshirt and someone in his circle gets asked…..”You see what Mario Cristobal has done with Cam Ward and Carson Beck? Willing to hop in the portal and take a visit?”

Lawerence has not reclassified and hasn’t said anything publicly about doing it. As of right now he isn’t in the picture so no one is concerned with him for next year
