Seems to directly contradict what D$ has preached about QB approach in the age of NIL.

My read, and I think D$ has eluded to this, is that there are probably 1 or 2 ultra elite high school QBs per year that you open up the budget for, otherwise you go with someone less expensive and combine with the portal.

Don’t buy it. Wouldn’t pay ultra elite HS QBs top dollar to sit for a year or two. No telling what the finished product will look like. Be selective & pay top portal QB for a year or two of play while hoping the Luke Nickles of the world develop.

Toney was AH not MNW.

Dopson is Norwood. I like this reclassification as I think he could be an elite Safety and we need that in the 26 class.

Lawrence is the 1 of all that we need. Best arm talent out of Miami area in 5-10years. Don’t care if he is 26,27,28…he is him. Must land him if you ever want to develop a SoFla QB to be a starter.

the TE that reclassified in the Midwest is another kid we need.

Nic is a board line 5star. Same with Dopson. Reclassification will drop them for good reason, most fail to succeed. Maybe the sites realize Miami is 2/2 hits on them (Blount and...

To be fair that Wiltfong post was from August. As others have mentioned I would guess things have changed. If they haven't I would seriously question the kids decision making. No way you can look at the UF offense and how little Lagway has progressed and still want to go there.

How does this reconcile with the current (and somewhat proven strategy) of looking to the portal and not spending a ton on a high-risk proposition?

The Portal is still my personal preference.

We'll be in the mix for more five-star QBs now that we're good. My view is that it's fine to prioritize those guys IF you have a plan for them starting early. Five stars have a pretty good hit rate, but they often hit for another team (Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, Spencer Rattler, etc.) I wouldn't pay someone just to sit and transfer.

Texas should probably continue to sit Arch.
