Jai Lucas and every other head coach was at this event. Justin Wise also had a really good showing: scored 18 points during his session. Wise would be such a difference maker for us; kid is going to rise in the rankings.

I think getting Justin Wise would be great because he is a guy who you feel really confident that he would make a solid contribution at Miami for the next 4 years.
Not unless he takes a big jump in his development and becomes a lottery pick.
Guys like Justin Wise, Akol Nyok and Carson Crawford are especially needed for roster construction purposes over the next 4 years.

Justin Wise, North Oconee (Bogart, Ga.) 6-4 SG 2027

This talented shooting guard was one of the leading players for Team Mann along with Nur and point guard Reese Alston. Wise is a big guard with a nice frame who makes defenses work because of his crafty game, versatile offense and movement off the ball. Wise can shoot the 3-ball effectively but is also strong enough to work inside. His ****nal includes a nifty baseline shot and can stretch the defense with his range. He tied with Alston for second on the team in scoring at 11.8 ppg.

Carson Crawford is the type of guy who will be a solid player for 4 years at a school and he will be first team all conference as a senior.

I agree. For the record, I never said I didn't want Cayden to commit.
Cayden is clearly the #1 recruit this cycle. IMO.
Lewis Uvwo and Gabe Nesmith would be tier 2 but guys like Justin Wise, Nyok Akol and Carson Crawford would be good additions to have a complete recruiting class.

As if being one of the top 3 shooters in the class didn’t make him important enough, now knowing that securing the ‘Canes legacy could pay dividends in the same way as securing Caleb gave us an advantage in his little brother’s recruitment; Wise is moving into must get territory.

I really don’t understand the lack prioritization on our end. Overall seems like we have misplaced priorities or something— idk where our priorities are even at rn; sans Beckham Black and Cayden Daughtry.

At this stage, Wise has completed an official visit to Georgia and has also been on unofficial visits to Auburn and Clemson. Those three programs, along with Texas, are the schools he currently identifies as being most involved in his recruitment, and each has been in attendance to watch him play this weekend

“Miami, Iowa, Michigan, Florida State, Providence is starting to get in the mix now, and USC— those are the programs I am hearing from the most right now,” said Daughtry.

“The results are pretty much due to the work I put into the gym every single day. I think I am the most skilled player in the country. With my size, being a smaller guard, I think I almost have to be perfect and produce on every possession.”

Miami: “Jai Lucas said he loves little guards. He has definitely been illustrating that point to me. He is really just telling me that if I do wind up at Miami, I will get to hoop and play my game. They will give me the freedom to be me.”

This article from the end of February says we will get an official visit tho. As long as he target these two we should be good. Preferably id like ty Jamison as well but id be fine with missing out there if we get Cayden…..taking two pgs in one class can be tricky.

Wise said he plans to make a commitment decision “pretty soon,” with official visits lined up to Auburn, Georgia, Clemson and Miami in the near future. First, though, the star guard has a postseason run in the immediacy, with the potential for a third consecutive state title looming large.

The outstanding athletic ability Wise harnesses on the court has deep roots within his family. His mother, Lydia McCormick, was on the South Gwinnett girls basketball team that went undefeated and won the state title in 1995. His uncle, Torey McCormick, played college basketball at Miami from 1993 to 1997, and Justin’s younger brother, Brayden, currently plays for North Oconee alongside him as a freshman.

MACON — North Oconee guard Justin Wise repeated eighth grade on purpose.

The 17-year-old played basketball for Malcom Bridge Middle School and, after completing his eighth-grade year, made a difficult decision.

He just wasn't quite ready for the high school level of play. He was smaller and less skilled when he was a *******.

So, he moved across the country. He went to live in California with his uncle, the one on his mom's side who played collegiately with Miami for four years, took online courses and buried his head in basketball. He did a year of training twice a day every day and making a home in the weight room.

"That kid's a dog," junior guard/forward Khamari Brooks said Thursday night of Wise, his close friend since the third grade. "Me and him have a special bond. You really can see the plays that we just intellectually (communicate) with each other. We know we're going to do whatever's needed and we trust each other. One day he might get a bucket, one day I might. We feed off each other's energy."

You make a valid point as I think the staff should focus on Daughtry and Wise to be the backcourt in the 2027 recruiting class. I think they are both good shooters who handle the ball well. Of course, defense will need to improve but that is where Coach Jai Lucas will help them with that improvement.
The only thing is our staff has a reputation of being big game hunters on the recruiting trail. Which explains why they are involved with guys like Black and Nesmith for example. There is nothing wrong with that as they are also good players who

What we as fans want to know but are clueless about is what is the strategy being used with the scholarships available.
For example, say Miami is going to use 4 scholarships on the 2027 recruiting class. What positions and who are we targeting with those scholarships. Is it best player available, a shooter, a big along with the best player in FL? Are we considering positions at all? That's what we don't know but we know our staff has a track record of big game hunters who will always add talent to the roster. That is where fans should be comfortable and excited about.
My strategy would be to use 1 scholarship for a one and done player, 1 scholarship for a player who could turn pro before his senior season and 2 scholarships for players who will play and contribute to Miami all four years of college. With that, you always want at least one big and one shooter in every class.
If they use that strategy then Black would be the one and done scholarship with Daughtry being the second option but not a lesser priority. Then it would be Nesmith and Uvwo as the second scholarship, which is the player who could turn pro before his senior season and finally, Wise and Nyok would be the last two scholarships, which would be the guys who play and contribute to Miami for the next four years.
Of course, we will know more in November after the travel ball season and official visits have ended.
I feel good about where recruiting is going and I know that staff of big game recruiting hunters will add some talented players to the roster.

Black is really good obv but he is going to USC or Arkansas.

I’m not sure we’re recruiting Nesmith. I don’t see an offer listed for him and he has never mentioned Miami amongst his top schools or future OVs

I agree with you about Black. I think he is guaranteed to be at Arkansas.

You are right about Nesmith. I guess I thought playing with the NightRydas and at Prolific Park would cause an offer at some point.
