2027 Men's Basketball Recruiting

Skipped all these pages. Do we have the next shelton / gaskin level kid lineup for Jai and ‘27?

No, no one with that level of lead against other programs that we had with those 2.

We have connections to Cayden Daughtry, Justin Wise, Tyrone Jamison, and Reese Alston.

Michigan is going to go all out for Cayden who is in our backyard.

Tyrone plays on Jai family’s aau team. Has been trained by Jai’s father for a long time now.

Justin Wise is the nephew of a ‘Canes hooper from the 90s; family full of canes fans.

Houston connections with Reese’s father (NBA player Rafer) and Jai’s brother; additionally, Rafer played in Miami so he has familiarity with the city.

All top 50 players: Reese and Cayden are five stars; top 15 players.
 


Interesting that he hasn't scheduled a Miami visit yet.
Maybe he is trying to commit to a school sooner rather than later given the depth at PG in his class.
I don't blame him for that.
He could always take an unofficial to Miami on December 2nd when the Canes play Alabama.
It would be interesting if Jamison and Cayden Daughtry were both at that game.

I understand not being able or not wanting to take two top ten point guards. But it would be the first big recruiting mistake of Jai’s career if we miss out on Jamison and/or Daughtry because we spent time chasing Beckham Black who is obviously going to Arkansas or USC.

That said, missing out on Jamison and Daughtry is acceptable if we get Reese Alston.

Missing out on all 4 elite point guards would be troubling and confusing

You make a valid point. I guess I would take the lazy approach and just focus on Daughtry.
Largely because the gap between Black, Alston, Daughtry and Jamison isn't that big.
I am 100% sure no one would criticize taking Daughtry by saying, man, we should have waited on Black or whoever else.
Honestly, there are times when Daughtry looks like the best PG in the class.
Personally, I don't think the staff will miss on a PG but I would prefer Daughtry out of the group.
We really need to continue to get the best player on SFL in the Orange and Green.
It needs to go Allen then Gaskins then Daughtry then Bell in the next three years.
 

He will be playing with Tai Bell at Christopher Columbus this season.
Might as well keep that pipeline going after Caleb Gaskins.
 




As we saw with Ernest Udeh Jr this season, a 5 who rebounds and blocks shots at a high level is very important to a team built on defense, rebounding and running.
Lewis Uvwo and Akol Nyok definitely fit the mold.
