2027 DE DJ. Jacobs, Jr. commits to OSU

I don’t hold the actions of a 17 or 18 year old kid against him. I did some dumb **** when I was that age. Maybe he blew smoke up our *** for a week. And if he led Mario on and ends up wavering in his commitment at some point he’ll have to answer for his immaturity.

This seems like a kid just trying to milk his first five minutes, not a shady handler pawning and parading the kid around.
He has an agency doing it for him. People can say no at that age and stick to their word.

OSU wanted to make an investment to **** with us 2 days before playing us
I guess? I cant imagine how this has any bearing on the game tmrw night. I think they wanted to land a top 5 player in the worst way and made a higher offer at the last minute.

I agree with your sentiments. That said, we’re not a Blue Blood. I’ll support Mario on this one, whichever way he decides to go.
All the media call us a Blueblood. When we played Notre Dame ESPN called us both Blue Blooded Rivals. All of our Rivals minus maybe Florida State and Florida are Blue Bloods: Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State now.

Whenever I see the phrase Blue Blood, I can’t help but think of the series (and book) Gomorrah (Gomorra - La serie) as there was a Camorra (Campania mafia) gang called the blue bloods (sangue blu)

To ignore our recruiting misses is just being a disingenuous homer. Look no further than our LBs and how we attack the portal. We didn't remake our entire secondary this year and bring in blay etc because we had been killing recruiting and evaluating at those spots...

I agree that if you can get a kid his caliber in the portal than its fine. However, there are maybe 1 or 2 caleb downs a cycle and they are normally more expensive in the portal than coming out of HS and still have tons of suitors willing to pay the inflated price tag. I just think you take as many swings as possible to build the best roster and depending on your last strike (the portal) to hit a home run every time will eventually get you especially since you have no control of whats available to a certain degree. I dont think it’s an accident that oregon, uga, bama, and osu consistently make the playoffs and consistently have had top 5 classes during marios tenure. Sure michigans and indianas exist but you need exceptional coaching to overcome. Not impossible but starting the season uphill.

Let’s say you missed on Caleb Downs but got another player from the state of Ohio , Toledos Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, a 3 star recruit out of HS. The latter player costs a fraction of what the #1 recruit at his position would cost. And instead you can take that money and put it towards another elite player or a top transfer. Do you think it’s impossible to compete with the Ohio states of cfb if following the cost prioritization model?

From 247... Kid is in Orlando for one of those all star games

After a whirlwind the past 24 hours, Jacobs, the nation's top-ranked junior according to 247Sports, reflected on his decision.

"It's been crazy," Jacobs said. "I'm just enjoying the process to be honest, but yesterday was crazy. I couldn't really pick up my phone. It was crazy, but I enjoyed the day though because how it ended so yeah it was great."

Jacobs state when he made his decision to pick the Buckeyes.

"I went on a visit and I was kind of like man I definitely know this is definitely the spot for me but I kind of waited a little bit and then then I woke up the day I was about to commit and then I'm like, yeah I'm going to Ohio State," Jacobs said. "Later that day I called coach (Ryan Day) that I'm coming."

There were reports that Jacobs had planned on picking the Hurricanes.

"What kind of went down was just it wasn't the best fit for me," Jacobs said. "I just definitely just wanted to pick the right decision and God led me towards Ohio State."

Although he did not pick Miami, the Hurricanes' staff informed him they still plan on recruiting him.

"They said they're still going to push for me," Jacobs said. "I did get a text."

The Hurricanes are having its best season in decades at 11-2 and will coincidentally face Ohio State on Wednesday (7:30 p.m., ESPN) in the quarterfinals at the Cotton Bowl.

"They've played amazing and they're still playing amazing," Jacobs said. "It's going to be a really good game, a very good game. It's exciting to watch and excited to see Miami's d-line get after and Ohio State's d-line get after it."

Kid is full of it. Either he is just making up stories as he goes along or he was lying to everyone all along. Maybe it was another David Stone situation which is why the parents weren't happy. who knows....
