this whole people who genuinely care mantra is going to get old.

I dont think any of us doubt that the kids like JD and the staff. But I bet the kids at Tennessee, FSU, Oregon St, Arizona, etc like their coaches too. Winning a few games and the post season has a funny way of changing opinions and quieting the negative noise.

Mark Richt from everything I have been told is maybe the nicest coach on the planet. But at some point results > how nice you say someone is.

I've met a ton of coaches over the years. I'd say for every d-bag I meet there are 19 great people. Baseball doesnt have the pressure or need for an absolute dictator like Football/BBall has...although some of the salaries are climbing to the point where coaches will probably feel pressure and resort to that.

So I'm rooting for him to make this work. But lets not lean on "he cares more" the minute things look bad.

Yeah no offense but I’d hope the head coach cares about his players. That’s a pretty low bar. Yeah I don’t want o Sullivan here or anything but I’d imagine most coaches care lol

That is one guy that I havent met...so I can only go off what we see on TV...but I have to believe his own guys arent super thrilled about playing for him. Big assumption...yes. But I bet the guys on the bench really hate him.

💯. It screams desperation and fighting for his job. Win at blue blood level and you won’t need to be desperate or fighting for your job.

He’s not going anywhere next year, so don’t think he’s playing that card here.

His job was likely never at risk. Philly is right that it is getting old. Most coaches care about their players. Most players care about development. We’ve had football coaches that were players’ coaches. We fired them for not winning enough and upholding the Miami standard.

I agree this year - they seem genuine, whereas they seemed like promotional, party-line tweets in the past. That said, I agree w others that likeability and trust alone will not get this program to where it belongs. The first few portal upgrades are a step in the right direction.

And JD showed signs of better preparation, lineup juggling and in-game decisions in the post-season, but there's more improvement needed. Maybe the best thing he did was go off on the team mid-season (Gabby mentioned it in one of the broadcasts). Players will respect their head coach more if they fear him a little, as well as like him.

I feel that stuff like this lays the groundwork for apologists for JD to sit here and tell us next season if things go sideways that we can't get rid of him because he's soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo well-liked.

Love this idea. Thanks for your input.

This is business, and Miami is a blue blood, only the best should play at Miami

Gaby Guiterrez was a classic example of a guy that didn’t belong. Horrific ABs yesterday

Couldn’t believe how over matched he was against a true freshman pitcher

Everyone must carry their weight, even though Kulo didn’t play much this year, he came up huge in postseason

D1 is listing Davis Hamilton from North Dakota State as an addition. Numbers don’t jump out and I don’t think we need another corner infielder. I haven’t found anything else confirming it.

He played 2B in his freshman and sophomore years

Took a massive jump in hitting, going from a .216 to a .318 from sophomore to Junior year

RAD should give JD a 3 year extension to quiet people like you even though I dount you give a dime to the program so no one cares what you think

Hit it well and made all Tournament team in the Fayetteville regional.
