TJ Coats and Jake Dorn
I think Dorn can really help us next season season in some capacity. Last season was like part of his rehabilitation.....There is a role for him on next year's team.2 Big kids right there still showing decent velocity after a long season of baseball. Go get right with Soto this fall and add a little juice and both can def be big contributors.
Both post season appearances looked good. The cross body delivery with that frame is tough at 90mph.I think Dorn can really help us next season season in some capacity. Last season was like part of his rehabilitation.....There is a role for him on next year's team.
I'm thinking like a 3-4 innings guy on Sunday and some spot duty mid week. He doesn't have a lot of mileage either...Both post season appearances looked good. The cross body delivery with that frame is tough at 90mph.
Doubt he's a starter but he's probably pushing for 40-50 innings in relief next year if he's consistent or close to that same guy.
I personally don’t think the pitching is even close to good enough for Omaha. But that will all depend on the draw we get.So is the roster complete for next season?
What are yall thinking this should be a team in the CWS or hosting a regional or something, or same as last year except without needing a hot streak to accomplish?
personally I would of felt wayyyyyy better if Easton Marks would of stuck with us along with everyone else we got.... without him, we're gonna have to hope 2-3 FR pitchers are ready and impactful to make a solid Omaha run..... I'm feeling confident about winning a supers though with this roster....So is the roster complete for next season?

Should be one of the better offenses in the country but tons of question marks on the pitching staff. I think we have plenty of serviceable arms in the bullpen with Ryan Bilka, Michael Taylor, TJ Coats, Bradley-Cooney and then Peralta coming in as a freshman. Add that to Dorn who I would think has a carved out lefty relief role. Holding out to see what they do with Bilka. He could be a darkhorse to slide into a starting role after being a career reliever at a lower level - much like Hugus. So is the roster complete for next season?

Hosting and winning a regional should be the goal/expectation. Do that and anything can happen in a super, as you said and as we've seen the past several years.Should be one of the better offenses in the country but tons of question marks on the pitching staff. Gotta hope Ciscar's season wasn't flukey or that he doesn't regress into a soph slump. Same can be said for DeRias but I'm afraid he got exposed a little bit late already so its less worry about a fluke or a regression and more a worry about actually putting the tools together.
Then the rest hinges on Rob Evans or Mikey Fernandez. Both had great summers and have great stuff from the left side. 1 stepping up and I think this is at worst a 2 seed in the regional round. Both stepping up and you're probably in the 1 seed range. I think one of them is the Saturday/Sunday guy and the other is probably your go to LHP out of the pen (if they both reach their potential). I think Lofgren and Glidewell compete for mid-week starts. Glidewell should give a high mid-week floor and elevated higher if Lofgren beats him out.
Anything out of Lodgek, Sebastian Santos-Olson, Lonzo Drummond, and/or Durso is a plus.
Could be a team that really blossoms late when guys grow into their role and then thinking about getting Menendez and Robert both added to the pen by April/May coming off TJ. Late season boost from them to shorten games and carry us further?
So early but I would think 35-40 wins overall in the regular season and 17-20 conference wins (up from 31 regular season wins and 15 conference wins). Should be a regional final team at worst. At best, host a regional but probably not a national seed 1-8 type. Going to Omaha is pretty exclusively who is playing well late regardless of how talented you are so hard to predict.
We're on the same page. Nobody has it all figured out right now in the country though. Just the nature of the portal and draft departures.@JayCane20 everything you said is completely fair and realistic.
But on the flip side reread what you wrote and how many of those things do you feel confident about being "Sure Things" outside of 2-3 bats that we know will do there thing.
Fair enough. I dont know if I am all in on the line up yet...but I think its more just not wanting to be hurt as a fan anymore. We're on the same page. Nobody has it all figured out right now in the country though. Just the nature of the portal and draft departures.
Except here is the only disagreement... I'm confident in more than 2-3 bats for sure. Cuvet, Ogden, Sosa, Galvin, Williams - 100%. I'm like 95% on Brylan West. So 2/3 of our lineup I feel very good about. Sheahan would have been there but his summer scared me. Torres is what he is. Then, Copeland I'm probably 50/50 on.
Best I've felt about a Canes lineup in a while.
Add in some of the talented freshmen coming in and we have a legit lineup. Now the pitching staff is a different story.Fair enough. I dont know if I am all in on the line up yet...but I think its more just not wanting to be hurt as a fan anymore.
I think we may see him closing , Someone needs to step up and be the weekday guy but the pen is coming into view .. Fall will tell I guess ….This is not based on any info, but I could see TJ Coats being a starter. Salty coached him in the Cape (5 starts) and I don't think it's a coincidence he's here.
