  • Wait for Exceptions: Players get special windows if their coach leaves or is fired, allowing them to enter the portal within a specific timeframe.
  • Withdraw: If a player did enter the portal but doesn't find a new spot, they can sometimes withdraw and return to their original team, but this isn't guaranteed.

Team leverage:
  • Star Players: Schools are more likely to negotiate or allow a star player to enter the portal (and might keep their scholarship active) because they don't want to lose them entirely.
  • Less Prominent Players: For players lower on the depth chart, a refusal might be more common, as the school loses less by forcing them to stay or leave without a scholarship.

The school only controls the initial step in that they literally put the name on a list within 2 days. They have zero right to not enter a requested name.

Something tells me that the ACC is going to be a little nicer to us next season. I wouldn't be surprised if we learn that our new dance partner is UNC. I think UNC is the B1G and SEC #1 target, but the SEC is desperate to block the B1G from South Florida. ACC is going to do whatever it can to keep us happy.

MFers had me looking up Parker Navarro highlights... man Mensah is an incredible pull at the buzzer. He likely would have been the #1 portal rated player over Sorsby, Leavitt, etc. if he entered earlier. I think he's tight with Cam Ward and I seem him following a similar path.

Few things shock me in CFB and this is truly one of them. Let's get him signed!
