I think the fact that Raiola agreed to sit on the bench tells you what you need to know. He wanted OregonI still can’t believe Raiola is going to sit on the bench at Oregon. Our staff thinks that mediocre dude from Pittsburgh is better than him?
How do we not have a playable QB on our roster after 4 years of recruiting? You will hit home runs AND strike out by relying on the portal every year. Not a good strategy. Better pray for a miracle
Why would you even say this? We’re going to lose Mali, he’s not going to waste a year with Emory
Well put. You can learn from failures, but you can also learn from successes. Mario did not learn from the past two portal "successes" at QB.They didn’t really recruit HS with the intent of getting a playable one.
Took a couple of lower ceiling guys who would maybe turn into game manager backups.
Took a raw high ceiling guy that had 0 floor in hopes that if he hit his ceiling you maybe had something there.
None of the three cost much because the likelihood of them ever becoming anything was reflected in the market price.
And Miami was willing to do that because they planned on paying up to get an established portal guy every year.
And now that looks like it failed.
The real crazy thing is how they didn’t think the miracle of the last two years was cause for concern. It’s like they thought these were legit miracles ordained by god, so nothing had to change in approach, because god would just keep handing out the miracles.
I’d bet we get a backup guy at least pretty soon here
Like Eget or Pennington…
We finally get a dedicated QB coach.... Paul Johnson.Hear me out: Mali-Cat isn't just a package next season. Let's go win the ACC with him as QB1.
This can't happen but I'd take it over Emory.
Like Mr PerfectMaybe Mali can throw the ball to himself 20 times a game.
Ok little boy, lolWe are playing for the National Championship on Monday and your on a forum , Sounding like a little 8 year old . Man up
Delete yourself broWe’re going to lose Mali, he’s not going to waste a year with Emory
We don't have time. This is ******* ridiculous. A bunch of grown people having a meltdown over this. Settle down, we’ll get a QB.
Yeah, it might not be who we dreamed two weeks ago, but we will land a starter. Things just didn’t break our way. Our top targets chose other spots, now we’re trying to talk someone out of a good situation to come here. That takes time.
I do think skipping visits during Cotton Bowl week was moronic. And the decision to not upgrade certain rooms with higher talent feels risky to me (LB, S, DT, DE, WR). The QB board just didn’t fall our way, and I don’t think it was about urgency.
I dont think the problem is with the idea of going portal they clearly just flat out suck at closing on QB unless circumstance plays heavily into it like Ward and Beck. They didn’t really recruit HS with the intent of getting a playable one.

At what point do you trust your high school recruiting? This is ******* ridiculous. A bunch of grown people having a meltdown over this. Settle down, we’ll get a QB.

When transfer QBs stop being Heisman finalists and going top 10 in the draft. At what point do you trust your high school recruiting?
