Oh **** no i wouldn’tSo you would say f_ck a couple million more dollars over pride and ego? Yeah right…..sure you would!
Where this is true, we wouldn’t know before the school post. All of these kids are posting it.Friday is the deadline to formally request your school to enter your name in the portal. It can take up to 48 hours for your name to appear in the portal as the school has 2 days to enter your name on your behalf.
At least that's how it worked last year...not sure if the same rules apply this year.
Y’all keep saying this but who besides Lucas has done it? And Lucas had did the paperwork to enter the portal but Wisconsin was holding him hostage which is a completely different situation. Retzlaff left byu and went to Tulane as a walk onSo you want a list of every single NCAA QB in the United States? Because they can all Enroll/unenroll whenever
For players on our team to enter and players on IU team to enter.I thought we get a portal extension along with IU because of the Natty game and allowing our coaches to focus on that first.
Its an extension for the players to enter. So that players wont ve forced to ditch their team before the game.I thought we get a portal extension along with IU because of the Natty game and allowing our coaches to focus on that first.
Lol you replace a starter with that guy? Na.
I thought we get a portal extension along with IU because of the Natty game and allowing our coaches to focus on that first.
Calling someone a teacher pet is the gayest thing ive ever read on CIS. Well done.We didn’t have 2 picks against every other ACC QB with those same defenders draped all over them. Keep moving your goalposts.
Okay Teacher’s pet, maybe he can be our QB coach since his predictions are so spot on & we apparently have no QB development
Uhhh, if by we you are referring to the players on our team then yes. Our players can enter the portal up until 1/23. Not sure if you are framing that as a positive for the school or not.I thought we get a portal extension along with IU because of the Natty game and allowing our coaches to focus on that first.
As usual the logic is completely wrong then. I assumed it included bringing in players as well. Instead, we could be watching someone important wave goodbye with zero opportunity to replace them. Yeah that makes total senseIts an extension for the players to enter. So that players wont ve forced to ditch their team before the game.
But, it doesnt extend other teams. So we are restricted in finding replacements.
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking nor am I 100% sure what people are "signing".
In the old days, it was a Letter of Intent or even a Financial Aid Agreement.
With Portal guys, they are probably signing a "contract". What the "contract" says is unclear, and will vary by person.
If the ONLY thing holding a player to School A is, say, a buyout provision of $1M, and then School B offers $4M, you just use $1M to pay off School A. The more "interesting" stuff would be those shady and fearful "Big 10 templates" which are rumored to span multiple years and contain frightening clauses.
Ultimately (and this will need to be fully tested in court, and probably soon), a contract cannot vaguely and generally take away a right that someone has the right to exercise. As in "transferring". Now, it is POSSIBLE to draft a clause that specifically addresses that, and explicitly offers consideration to "buy out" an individual's right to transfer for a period of time.
But, for now, most of the contractual language that has been provided has TRIED to sidestep the whole "the NIL deal is really just a disguised pay-for-play contract" by using different kinds of language that does not REALLY address what the universities WANT the deals to address. Which is "locking in a player so he can't go anywhere unless we unilaterally decide we don't want him anymore".
So you come to where we are today.
Player A "may not yet have signed" for 2026-2027. Regardless of whether he is in the Portal, let's see what it will take.
Or Player B "might be signed" for 2026-2027, but may have a manageable buyout clause. Regardless of whether he is in the Portal, let's see what it will take.
It's not incredibly complicated. But about 80% of this board keeps stomping their feet, demanding immediate satisfaction, and ignoring all kinds of different reasons why some players may not choose "the highest offer". Maybe the girlfriend goes to school elsewhere. Maybe the player has a connection to a coach somewhere else. Maybe the player is scared of POSSIBLE legal implications.
And just about every hypothetical consideration I just mentioned in the last 3 paragraphs is one that we have encountered in the past month.
I hope the negotiations yield us one guy. That's all we need. Just one of the ones we are still talking with.
That’s to lose playersI thought we get a portal extension along with IU because of the Natty game and allowing our coaches to focus on that first.
