Could careless bout him being a star......but the narrative of if he wasn’t from Miami he wouldn't even be on the Canes radar is played out!!

How? The staff hasn't prioritized him TWICE. He's clearly low down the board - we've seriously pursued two QBs who have had season ending injuries before him.

If they wanted him, there was plenty of time to lock him up quietly. Now the entire process is down to the wire and the pickins' are slim.

Miss me with they think so much of him. Only this board does. Anybody else who was the QB for NCST would be off everyone's radar.

Miami quite literally entered a betting war with other universities and pulled out at the end realizing the QB they were trying to get was actually not a man of his word.

They then proceeded to offer 6.5 million dollars to a QB who leaves for the NFL.

And prior to these two instances, they went after Sorsby and offered top dollar.

And, as we speak, they're ringing the phones with agents hearing Miami has money to spend.

None of these things speak like an endorsement for Nickel.

not to mention murmurs he may be looking to go elsewhere too...

D$ and pete on the podcast today were talking up CJ bailey and how he should get voer being snubbbed in high school. They also mentioned him squeezing a little more from us now

Seems to me Bailey is our guy and since he has the leverage hes gonna get as much $ from us as possible before signing.

Mason Heinschel turned down a ridiculous overpay at the 11th hour to stay loyal to the Narduzzi. Two year contract for almost double what he’s making at Pitt. From a business standpoint alone, the kid is a flat out moron. Loyal until it’s too late.

Unfortunately for us, now it’s panic mode…aka Bailey and Fifita (amongst other backup options).

There are a lot of portal QBs this site was begging for, top guys, that ended up not great. And vice versa. You go get talent and craft it around your team. Bailey would be great.

Bottom line, not everyone on this site is a big Bailey fan. Some talk about him like HE won the Heisman.

Right now talking about Bailey is coping.

I think people need to find the middle with Bailey… most people got pushed to two ends of the ring about him.

I’m finding the middle and looking at a P4 starting QB who is accurate albeit not in our game last year who can really spin it and can scoot. The bottom line is he’s an experienced QB from our conference who should up his game playing behind a better oline and weapons.

And just to add I’ve tried to get away from CIS narratives when it comes to players because you can get sucked into it like Mendoza who was just the “Cuban Emory” but he would have been perfect and easily wins us the Louisville game by not making costly INTs to ice the game for us… I know I was one of them

At this point, I agree Bailey would be great.

After we just had Cam go 1:1 & Beck resurrection, he obviously wasnt a top choice & shouldnt have been. We have a top OL in college football. We should be targeting the best of the best off the rip. If we sniffed any interest the kid would have sprinted to the portal

My problem with Bailey is I think it’s too late. We’ve passed over him three times, he’s now recruiting JoJo, Chance etc to NC State…is he the type of kid to just get up and say “yeah never mind, I’m going where y’all have been leaving from”…

At this point…idk. It’s a shame to waste even a single year of Toney, not to mention the guys who were on the fence about coming back in ‘26 + the new portal WRs. We’ve managed this about as poorly as possible and with arrogance.

We’ve got the biggest game in 25+ years coming up, so my focus is there. But after…man 2026 might be high floor, low ceiling.

Moron, maybe. At the same time I respect the kid for not bailing on his team at the 11th hour. This is another major flaw in our qb acquisition process—we’re basically asking kids to completely ***** over their coaches, teammates, etc. by bailing at the very last minute.
