This year is different from the last 2. It might work out in the end again but it’s ok to say the situation right now isn’t good

They offered Ty Simpson 6.5 million dollars, that’s not exactly a indication of confidence in Luke Nickel my guy..Leavitt just don’t want to be here I’m sure they offered him the world.

Early December: "I don't want this guy that's very good because he's actually just mid. I want this other guy that literally every team wants, especially the team from his hometown that he said it was always his dream to play for. Or I want this guy whose OC just left for another team that's also in the mix for him"

Late December: "This staff sucks. We struck out on those guys that were never coming here. I still don't want that mid QB. Let's see if we can get someone whose already on a team to jump in the transfer portal or this guy that entered the NFL draft"

Early January: "Guys, it's gonna be Emory. I'm so done being a fan of this team 4 days before the national championship."

Mid January: "Is that mid guy still available? We gotta get that mid guy"

We're coming up on a month since this thread was created. We've not landed any of our targets, but not for lack of throwing money at them (i.e. - $6.5M offer to Simpson). There was always coming a point with the Portal where we wouldn't get one of the big fish, and would have to rely on what's coming in from HS along with who's already inside the program.

I think our 2 options are:

1) Ride with Coleman/Nickel/Judd/Emory, see if one of them can win the job and be a dude. Just because they've not done it here *yet* doesn't mean they won't keep developing and become capable. Developing QBs is part of the staff's job, and we recruited all of those guys for a reason. If another guy comes in the portal, like Longstreet, toss them into the fray and let them compete too. Don't promise the spot to any of them.

2) Wait until after Spring and see if a QB from elsewhere wants to unenroll from where they are and suddenly enroll at UM.

Neither of those options are as great as Option A1 (getting a massive Cam/Beck style fish as a sure fire QB) - for sure. But those seem like the options in front of us right now.

how can you get another QB with the portal closed ?
