2026 Portal QBs

Look, man, I wouldn't mind Bailey, but all you guys quoting me clearly are only looking at his season totals.

In his second year as a starter, he didn't even crack 200 yards against FSU, Miami, or Notre Dame, and he had exactly 200 or 201 against Virginia, Wake Forest, and UNC. Had less than 60% completion in 3 games.

He would be solid here, but let's chill out a bit and be realistic.

Everyone keeps expecting another Ward to walk through the door. It ain't happening. There is no perfect prospect out there. That much can be said based on how many posters have VASTLY different opinions of various QBs.

Also, guys are allowed to improve with experience, better supporting cast, and coaching. Ward had his flaws coming in. Beck had his flaws coming in. Key is to get them in the spring so they can develop for an extra semester before the season.

And Carson Beck barely having 150 yards this playoff.

Word on the street is that we are having multiple conversations with multiple options, maybe more, unless those conversations have stalled. This should be wrapped up by this afternoon, unless it's not. In which case the conversations will continue on into tomorrow potentially, unless they don't.
Well done …funny

Again, I think he would be decent for us. But he certainly hasn't shown anything to justify calling him a star
Could careless bout him being a star......but the narrative of if he wasn’t from Miami he wouldn't even be on the Canes radar is played out!!

He had a very similar, if not better season, than Mendoza at Cal last year.

Remember, Sophomore QBs have room to grow. He is not a finished product.

How many times do I have to say he would be solid here before you all stop acting like I'm calling him trash? He simply hasn't done anything to warrant being called a star. Period.

Also, both Ward and Beck were already much better than Bailey is right now. Not even a comparison.

Yes, let's just hope every QB who has a decent season will suddenly turn into a Heisman winner.

Mendoza is an outlier. Y'all are huffing massive quantities of copium here.

Did I say any of that or are you just making **** up just to complain?

You mopes are insufferable.
Then what was even the point of your post, exactly?

I'm not moping, I'm just not going to be delusional and act like CJ Bailey is some star QB. It's getting comical at this point

I agree with you but….. at this point we’re looking at a qb room with Emory at the top so I would gladly take him and many to avoid that.

Yea Ward and Beck were better and more experienced.

ANDDDDD???? should we not take a QB then?

We clearly had a ranking of QBs and we are quite a few names down that list at this point.

So wtf are you complaining about?

Personally, after seeing Beck in this offense, I’m no longer concerned about portal QBs. I have confidence that Luke Nickel can be the one. Miami just needs to surround him an elite OL and a great defense and it’s all good. Spend your money there. Beck didn’t throw for 300 yards once this year and was a game manager all the way through. With Fletcher, Brown, and Pringle… that run game figures to be pretty **** good. With Luke, he has the tangibles and skills. And with This playoff run mixed in with the fact that he barely loss in High school…I think he has it! Let’s Go LUKE!!

The point of my post was clearly written.

REMEMBER, SOPHMORE QBS HAVE ROOM TO GO. HE IS NOT A FINISHED PRODUCT.

Why respond and try to argue if you haven't even read what I've been saying? Already said I would be fine with taking him over what we have on roster, but I've got several people quoting me acting hurt because I'm not anointing him as some star. He's been good against trash teams and mediocre or worst against any defense with a pulse.

They beat fsu and he was 18/25 2tds and no picks. Who cares he didn’t throw over 200. Beck had 4 games he didn’t crack 200

Oh, absolutely, like I said I would definitely take him at this point, but that's a pretty low bar. I think he would be okay here, definitely a step up from what we have on roster, but beyond that.. meh.
