Yet, here we are, during the lead up and game prep to a National Championship game having coaches, staff, etc having to worry about finding/securing a QB for 2026.

Totally agree. The odds were that you weren’t going to get lucky three years in a row.

Their top qb targets did not go to a surprise school. You knew from jump that kid was locked to Texas tech. Levitt was going to be hard to get from Lane even though Lane almost messed it up by trying to steal that Washington qb.


However, I still don’t understand why CJ Bailey resigned so quickly. He’s lost a lot of talent.

From a business standpoint, he should’ve waited and he would’ve had so much leverage on Miami that he could’ve gotten an extra $500k at least because of desperation.

Did we really destroy this kid in our game that caused him to be eliminated as a possibility in the eyes of our coaches?

Would love to hear what happened after the window closes. Was he not interested or were we not? I hope this isn’t a Mendoza 2.0 although I don’t think he has the players and the coaches Mendoza has.

What's wrong is our QB portal strategy. We could have enticed many decent QBs with high upside (CJ Bailey, Austin Simmons, etc.), we were just arrogant and moved like molasses.

I really thought Bailey was the plan all along. It made too much sense. I bet if the staff prioritized him and back channeled our intent to bring him in for visit on day one of portal, he was would have signed with Miami.

Honestly mind boggling. Mario likes to play the Lotto with QBs. His numbers hit twice so that’s a proven formula right? It would have been so easy to just bank that shot, smh.

People don’t realize how close we were to having Poffenbarger/Emory as our QB in 24 and the fact Hannah Cavinder was our best recruiter last cycle.

I’ve been a Mario fan when it was unfashionable. Ironic I’m bashing him in the eve of the national championship. But this portal cycle has us going in the wrong direction so far.

Noah Fifita Would be exciting in this offense.

I'm thinking this is where we're hopefully at. Not a guy that will go high in the draft but has proven production over 3 years.

Dual threat guy with limited arm talent but can still make some nice throws. I can see him play point guard on the offense and just focus on distribution to the playmakers, chunk plays with his feet when he needs to, and lean on the ground game.

I thought he was going to drop off a ton this year without Tet on that offense but he had a really good year. Limited his turnovers as well compared to the previous year.

IMO he's one of the few high floor guys left that can realistically lead us to playoff berth. I worry about how he'll hold up against legit defenses but our schedule is weak next year. The path to 10 wins is pretty **** easy.
