2026 Portal QBs

Im old enough to remember not hosting players opening week of portal to avoid distractions for a semifinal game, only to end up with a massive distraction before the Final game.
Technically we did host at least 2 players the weekend before the semifinal game and both in turn signed over this past weekend. Pretty sure if they could have gotten Sorsby to not be so dead fast on following his GF to TT they would have been more than willing to have him in that weekend as well.

Can everybody shut up with the rebuild/reset talk for next year. Thats not a college football concept.

There is no draft pick to reward ****** teams. Recruiting is heavily impacted by momentum. Under no circumstances can you say, save some money this year and rebuild, and spend it next year.

Because if you suck, next year everything will cost more (suck tax) so you'll end up saving nothing and just wasting a year.

The only concept college football is built around, is to go all out and maximize every single year, every single win matters.

Our fanbase on average has the football knowledge of a rock.

Enlighten us please - what other portal QB's did we 'miss out on' by not hosting them last week?

Ty Pennington North Arizona
2025 - 90.1 Overall grade, 90.2 pass grade
2024 - 88.7 Overall Grade, 84.1 Pass Grade
32 TD : 6 INTs in his career. 6.6 BTT% : 2.3 TWP%

Bring someone like this dude in to compete with Nickel and Coleman at the very minimum.

Noah Fifita is probably like one of the easier pulls.

**** getting Colandrea would be fine even

Honestly though if I'm Mario I'm trying to get Chambliss right now. Tell him they're trying to move on to Knight. And we will fight with you for the eligibility too ...

I'd go an sign Amari Odom and pay Syracuse his buyout. There's Nick Miniucci... Both those guys can come in and compete with Nickel/Coleman.
Caden Veltkamp is still at FAU I think, and would at least be solid competition with great build.

Jc French can probably still be gotten.

We did and they both committed. We were never taking 15+ transfers this cycle.

You’re focusing too much on last week’s visits and missing the broader issue.

Based on what’s been reported, Mario essentially put all his eggs in two baskets: Sorsby and Leavitt. Both were highly sought-after by multiple programs willing to spend at roughly our level.

We should have built stronger contingency plans. You can debate the ideal approach.

We could have, for example, prioritized CJ Bailey once it became clear early on that Sorsby and Leavitt weren’t sure things.

Or, we could have continued pursuing Sorsby and Leavitt while also engaging Plan B options and keeping them warm with more competitive offers than what they ultimately accepted. Think Austin Simmons, Lincoln Kienholz, etc. Not ideal targets, but respectable Plan B quarterbacks.

Instead, we’re left with what appears to be only Husan Longstreet. That’s it. And the reason is that we were overconfident -- placing everything on two targets -- and too slow to pivot or develop backup options.

Colandrea signed with Nebraska

The Miami football braintrust is not an amateur organization anymore. My guess is that they think they can win next year with Luke Nickel. It's an easy schedule and the running game will be ridiculous. Toney could get multiple snaps at QB. Not winning a title but getting to the playoffs is doable.
They do not think they can win next year with Luke Nickel. That's why they've gone after Sorsby, Leavitt, and offered $6.5M to Simpson.

They obviously don’t believe that or they wouldn’t be trying to bring in a qb
