2026 Portal QBs

They obviously don’t believe that or they wouldn’t be trying to bring in a qb
I get it. They have publicly gone after the top 2 and a long shot guy headed to the NFL. Those are no brainer upgrades. But they clearly haven't gone after the second and third tiers. Either that was a complete negligent mistake, or they think what they have is better than those next groups.

If Fletcher is going to return (I know he has announced he is, but he's also averaging 6.8 ypc in the playoffs vs 4.6 against FBS teams in the regular season. After he obliterates IU on Monday night he's going to have a decision to make, IMO), I would go get Dampier. We would have a lethal rushing attack next year with Dampier at QB, Fletcher/Brown/Pringle at RB, and Mali. Dampier is not a great passer, but if he continues to limit his turnovers (just 5 INTs and 4 fumbles vs 12 Ints and 7 fumbles in '24 at NMSU) he can be good enough with the WR talent we have. Dampier out

If Fletcher bounces I would go get Longstreet/Grunkemeyer. Either would likely produce the same blowing up the QB room effect. Longstreet has a much higher ceiling but is a complete unknown as a starting QB. Grunkemeyer has a much higher floor, but is his ceiling high enough to justify potentially losing Nickel and Coleman? I don't know.

Obviously if there is a better rabbit Coach can pull out of his loafers go take that guy.

They did the same the last 2 years. It was cam and howard. Last year it was mateer and beck. That’s just the way they seem to go at qb. they swing for the top guys

It was likely negligence. Imagine if Ward or Beck didn't have a change of heart the last two cycles. They were far from sure things to return and could have gone the other way. We would have been in the same exact position as we are today.

We played with fire. It finally burned us. Time to take a new approach going forward.

Mario needs to hire a QB coach. The problem with rolling with Emory and Nickel isn't that they are inexperienced; it's that they are literally unplayable and not functional. I love Coleman as a prospect, but I worry that he just won't get developed here

We're going to get a portal guy, so I'm not panicking. Look, scenarios like this are going to happen in recruiting. Sometimes you just miss on all the top guys. But the fact that we don't have a guy even remotely playable is worrisome

Exactly. Based on practice reports, Emory and Nickel are not D1, P4 QBs.

Can everybody shut up with the rebuild/reset talk for next year. Thats not a college football concept.

There is no draft pick to reward ****** teams. Recruiting is heavily impacted by momentum. Under no circumstances can you say, save some money this year and rebuild, and spend it next year.

Because if you suck, next year everything will cost more (suck tax) so you'll end up saving nothing and just wasting a year.

The only concept college football is built around, is to go all out and maximize every single year, every single win matters.
You posted this as if people want to rebuild.

The Miami football braintrust is not an amateur organization anymore. My guess is that they think they can win next year with Luke Nickel. It's an easy schedule and the running game will be ridiculous. Toney could get multiple snaps at QB. Not winning a title but getting to the playoffs is doable.
