2026 Portal QBs

Swing and a WHIFF! Mario went from a first pick maker to a QB killed again. Does he get another chance or does it take replacing Dawson with an elite OC to land another elite QB?
 
Portal QB next year is the single most important thing for the entire season. This season is lost. The team is going to absolutely fall apart now that there is literally zero chance of making the CFP. They're going to lose at least another game especially on the road. Mario needs to lock the **** in on who the transfer QB is going to be and it better be a ******* dude he puts 100% faith in.

If we get a QB who isn't aggressive as **** and isn't able to convince Mario that putting 100% faith in him is the correct decision AT ALL TIMES, then we are going to have no hope of overcoming Mario's conservative nature. Is what it is. As long as there is an ounce of doubt that Mario feels the QB in the guy that going to win you the game at the end, then he thinks rugby scrum to death is the best path to victory.

Why would such a QB consider Miami, given how you just described the problem?

I like Sorsby, but if he choses to leave Cincinnati he will have many opportunities.

Because Cam did the exact thing and got himself a #1 pick out of it, when he was nowhere near it before. It isn't a talent issue for the surrounding roster. Well at least it wasn't this year. TBD next year.

If Sorsby or any other name QB decides to portal, why pick Miami over other programs? Because of what Cam Ward did? Any incoming QB won’t have the same supporting cast. May not have the same offensive coordinator, although that may be a plus. I’m not sure what would make Miami more attractive than other programs. A guarantee to start at Miami, but no starting QB would leave for another program where he wasn’t guaranteed to be the de facto starter.

The same transitive property that doesn’t work for comparing teams doesn’t work for comparing players.

And which of those statements can't be said about any other program... Why would anyone transfer anywhere... This **** is obvious

Oh I don’t think Beck gets drafted whatsoever. He’s been highly turnover prone now for two straight seasons. Shame because I said he would be a first rounder because I assumed Dawson would fix the turnover issues with adapting but we’ve done 0 adapting and Beck’s elbow I think isn’t 100% given how little zip the passes have.

Yeah but Miami lost the momentum of riding that Cam high by how they've performed this year and how Beck will be viewed as a prospect. Sure Miami can pay more than others, but there's more opportunities than ever for these kids with the crazy money being tossed around. They can settle for a little less money but better fit/coaching.

Who would have thought Mendoza going to Indiana was actually a MUCH better play for him as a pro prospect. He'll be laughing all the way to the draft.

No portal quarterback is coming here anymore as long as Mario’s a head coach

If that’s the case then he needs to publicly thank Mario because nobody was touching him with a draft pick last year.
 
I don’t even know who the answer is for 2026. Soresby has to be priority 1 of 1 given his dual threat ability but will he even come here?

I don’t think with this offense that we can go into next year with a pure pocket passer again.
