Schedule allows for it.

Lville and SMU were bad losses. But going by the analytics, both those teams were top 30 teams at least.

Outside of ND, I’m not sure we play a single Top 40 team next year. Maybe Pitt?

It’s the perfect schedule to bring along a young guy with a lot of upside, and let the surrounding team carry him until November.

Just to be clear I mean if Longstreet enters we should move heaven and earth to get him as our starting QB next year. His talent is ridiculous. Giant risk handing the job to a guy with 15 college passes, but IMO that's a gamble worth taking considering Longstreet's talent.

I understand your logic/reasoning here, but this goes against what this staff has shown to be their MO. Mario and Co like transfer QBs with a lot of experience. I believe Cam and Carson combined for 11 seasons of CFB. This doesn't mean we won't go after this kid. History says we won't.
 
If we don’t get a portal and we have to have a battle we just need more talent than Emory, Nikel, Judd and Coleman. Add a big time prospect to the mix like Longstreet and it could work

I’m fine with that if we strike out on the top guys remaining. Get Knight or Longstreet and let them battle.

Do we really know if Nickel can be the guy or not if it comes to that.

We all know Emory sucks but Nickel has never been given a chance to show anything in real game action has he…
