The meltdown on this board if this gets traction will be hilarious
Back in the playoffs with a QB who’s never started a game?Meh, I don't think most fans are super enamored with Miami Mahommes. I think he'd be a good QB at UM, but not losing any sleep over it if he chooses Syracuse.
With how the team is built on both sides of the line, Fletcher coming back, and Toney as a security blanket, I'm confident we can be back in the playoffs again next year even with Nickel at QB.
Prime example of underrating the portal additions that carried us this season, and overvaluing the bench guys that were viewed as not good enough or not ready, hence needing said portal players.Meh, I don't think most fans are super enamored with Miami Mahommes. Agreed, we have to be very aggressive. Hopefully more is going on behind the scenes than what we hear. Because there has literally been no noise about portal additions. At a time when everyone should be wanting to come here.Prime example of underrating the portal additions that carried us this season, and overvaluing the bench guys that were viewed as not good enough or not ready, hence needing said portal players.
Be careful what you wish for. I don’t think anyone after SMU thought we’d be here, and most of the players carrying us (Mauigoa, Bain, Mesidor, Cooper, Scott, Thomas, Toure, Wes, Daniels, Beck, etc.) are all gone. We’ve overachieved, and that’s mainly due to our portal players/vets leading this team. Only a select few are coming back.
This year is not the year to sit back and do nothing. This is the perfect time to ensure national momentum and build like Indiana, TTech, A&M, etc are all doing in the portal.
Obviously, massive game tomorrow will cloud all of this. But regardless of the result (here’s to a win so I can book my flight to the natty asap), I hope we’re aggressive in the portal starting Friday.
He’s not ready, but if we finish the job here and win number six, I’d be OK with him and Coleman battling it out. And I would just look at next season as a victory lap season. If we win the natty, I wouldn't kick up dust if the staff felt good enough about Nickel to roll with him. Would save us a lot of money for a couple of years.
The style will depend on the qb. The offense didn’t play the same in 2025 as 2024Ty Simpson who so many are salivating over had a grand total of 30 snaps before this season. Sayin had zero starts before this season. Nickel is supposed to be a really good qb prospect and he's been in the Dawson system for a couple years now.
Nickel SHOULD be capable of doing the Carson Beck thing early on and just distribute the ball without turnovers. By the end of the season he should have enough reps that Miami can trust him ore and get more aggressive.
Miami isn't going to change it's style of play next year. Will pretty much be what we have now with different players on the OL and DL.
I'm not stressing about not having a QB locked up yet. I think Cristobal has earned the benefit of the doubt if he decides that we already have a starting caliber QB on the rooster.
I guess they’re worth it because schools are paying it.Its hard for me to believe any of these top ranked portal QBs are worth the coin....could probably get 3-4 high end players at other positions for the price of one...
I understand but Ole Miss got two good QBs without over spending...how much do you think they paid Chambliss?I guess they’re worth it because schools are paying it.
