2026 DL: This is the way

Lightfoot needs weight badly if he wants to be more than a situational guy but I will give him props , he’s wiry like Roy D Mercer. He has some punch in that little body
With him being a fairly quick guy and thin at LB could he play a hybrid LB type spot to be on the field more?

He kinda did. They aligned him all over the place to spy and blitz. I saw him at Mike just to blitz but I could see him being used I multiple facets. Kinda like a poor man’s Harold Perkins. Regardless he’s a **** of a football player that you find ways to get him more snaps.

Wouldn’t be shocked if he had the same number of snaps as in coverage as he did in pass rush situations

Lightfoot is the player to watch for next year. I think he's a star in the making. Nearly 6'6 with elite athleticism and motor. Very capable of a double digit sack season but can also be used in coverage.

He reminds me of those star hybrid DE/OLB types Penn State would seemingly have every year. He's not 3 or 4 and shouldn't be used as such. Find a scheme that has him on the field as many snaps as possible.

Lightfoot is incredibly gifted. If he puts on 15 more pounds look out!

Is McConathy expected to hit the portal? I remember him getting some snaps his true freshman year. I wonder how he’s developing

Me and my bro still quote him.

“You ain’t nothing but a light snack.” 😂😂

He’s a dream for NFL DCs and I bet we see him used in a Jack role a bunch next season. On the other side of Wilson, he’ll be absolute **** on earth for opponents.

Moten and Scott would be a scary combination, with Wilson, Lightfoot, Lowe, and Blount on the edges.

Ya’ll seen Moten toss Coogan (whos a draft prospect) hop over his body, and one arm a 220lb RB …..right on that play alone i thought we lost Moten to the draft 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣🤣

That was some warren sapp type movement I'm sold on this guy (moten). hope he comes back

I'm sure it's been said, but too late on the thread to read up....

I'm excited to see what players like Bain, like Mesi, with some returning hard workers what this next class looks like.

How important is it for Vets playing at the highest caliber to show the back ups what Strain looks like and hard work.

You can see it in Lightfoot, plays bigger than he is.

It's priceless and why you see certain successful programs constantly churning out elite players at certain positions. The coaching is obviously important but the standard is maintained and raised by the players.

Excited for the Canes future - it's been two years where you can see we are a physical team, no reason for it to stop. Love it. Go Canes
