2026 DE DeAnthony Lafayette commits to Miami

So what he has like 32.5" arm length or something. If it's 33" at 6'1" that'd be great.

Built like Yasir Abdullah or Haason Reddick if he's <240lbs.

Maybe Josaiah Stewart if he gets up closer to 245-250.

Has the kid mentioned where we see him playing? Ive heard everything from MLB, rush edge to RB?

Not saying he's that but size wise very similar . Same height in fact
Speaking of similar height, Bain isn't exactly a towering DE but he has elite traits that make up for his lack of height.

This kid lacks ideal height but he has freakish arm length, great get off, and a knack for getting to the QB.

I like this take and I like that we are finally throwing numbers at the DL. Take players who have produced consistently and have freakish traits; then, let the pieces fall into place. Some guys will hit and some guys will portal, but that's CFB now

What sets this kid apart from Malik Bryant or even Booker Pickett (who is a little taller)? He seems like the same type player and those two dominated HS but can't see the field here. I'm genuinely curious, not ****ting on anyone.

Significantly more powerful than both and bigger than both coming in

Both are "Seeing the field". Bryant just had surgery, got a fair amount of time in year 2…And Pickett has played some this year…. Neither are on a career path to be a star at this point, but it's early especially on Pickett

Did you ever think they would be seeing more if we didn't have the nation's best set of ends?

You have to recruit numbers people…I'm sure the coaches would love her 3 edge recruits to be Trenton Henderson, Zion Elee, and Ashari Charles, but it doesn't always worked that way.

He's a different type player …. Every now and then one of these shorter pass rush guys turns into a Freeney or Dumervil or James Harrison…Or he could just be Thomas Davis and be in the Sun Belt in a couple of years. But the tape obviously wowed them enough to offer, he's doing bad man things on that tape.

Cashius Howell (Texas A&M) and R. Mason Thomas (Oklahoma) are two guys with similar builds tearing up college football right now. Of course, there are dozens of other guys with the same body type who flopped.

What I like about Lafayette is that he has exceptional production and athleticism. If you are going to have a unique profile, you need to be special. He’s been among the national leaders in sacks two years in a row and he competes in the 100M, 4X100, discus, shotput while also playing running back on the gridiron.

People are stuck on height but his arm’s make up for that, very long. The get off is as good ias I’ve seen in a minute . Pretty violent hands for being a more finesse pass rusher type. He about split a RT in half .
6-8 wingspan is insane and he moves so fluid on the edge

So he gets to the qb , that’s what I figured

he told me I'm one of his favorite players in the class. He can see me coming in, he's not sure if I'm going to switch to defensive tackle or not, three-tech. He said if I come there, I can start out on the edge and see where I go from there. He wants to see how my body grows."
