People really seem to be taking them replacing Fields and Raridon for granted.

I have a few futures parlays with them making the playoffs because of their schedule and that bull**** new rule, but losing two first round backs, a third round receiver and a third round tight end and bringing in no proven transfers feels like it’s just being swept under the rug.

UGA fans seem to think this is a big deal. Some dismissing it because Jordan Hall will start at NT but others pushing back saying Hall is never healthy.

Others saying the true freshman Sone as well as others passed him up. Seems like a big deal to me.

Penciling in CJ Carr as a future top 3 pick too. So much brand association boosting. Really wouldn’t be surprised if they drop one to one of UNC/Stanford/Wisconsin/BYU before they play us.

I know it won't happen because of ego and money but a lot of these dudes would be far better off going G5 route, getting playing time and trying to make a name for themselves and then trying to get a big payday as a junior/senior off of that. Bouncing around from one P4 to another barely getting any playing time isn't gonna do **** for them and their development. Guys like Bobby and Donta are extremely raw and need all the reps they can get.

Yeah this is why evaluations matter so much and why football is the most interconnected sport there is as far as individual performance imo, gridiron football and futbol both lol. Fit really matters and Star rankings can be deceptive.

There isn’t a guarantee that they would’ve played at a g5 immediately, either tho. Maybe at some schools because the higher ranking would give them immediate status. A lotta p4 schools like Purdue, Maryland, UCF, Kansas, etc would’ve done the trick for certain guys needing playing time too; not just g6. .. . . Even then, some guys aren’t cut-out to be starters anywhere.

Marcus Stokes probably benefitted the most from UF dropping him; his career compared to Jaden Rashada is night/day. Was able to get one and half years of starting at UWF and then beat out Air Noland (who did exactly what you described) as the starter at Memphis. I do see quarterbacks being as ruthlessly pragmatic as possible but not so much other positions. QB is uniquely positioned tho.

Wouldn’t write off everyone just yet, tho. Jayden Wayne played a good amount more at Cal his third year than Wash his second year; in line to start this year at edge this year after starting 9 games last year & making 4th team Athlon all-acc. Elias Rudolph played a lot at UNLV last year, but he wasn’t a starter in any of the games. Kaleb Spencer and Robert Stafford are doing well at VT and UCLA. Chris Johnson Jr wouldn’t be at Clemson, as RB2, rn if he didn’t go to SMU.

So, i think, it’s a mixed bag and not everyone will have their problems solved by going g6. Collins Acheampong didn’t seize a job at Bowling Green and now he is at UTSA. Chris Graves is a p4 starter (9 outta 15 for ole miss last year) at two separate schools, but Khamuri Rogers couldn’t crack at Miss State but is doing well at Jackson State. Some kids like Jaden Harris who aren’t NFL guys may be better served going to UGA as a backup than Kansas afterwards. No guarantee that if they play well at a g6 that when they move backup to a p4 that they will be good enough to hold their spot down like Bobby Washington at Coastal Carolina who is doing well now.

Bill Simmons is one of the main reasons why Chesney got the UCLA job, this AD didn’t make the hire anyways. Mick Cronin’s ain’t going to fly for too much longer. He badly needs to get to at least the sweet sixteen this year

Only Malik Bryant made the Mizzou depth chart and he’s second string DE. I guess we can include Chris Graves Jr who is starting however was really a Manny recruit. No Bobby Washington or Donta Simpson.

Tommy Kinsler expected to be the starting RT for Ole Miss, not official yet tho.

Drinkwitz also clarified that a medical condition kept Donta Simpson, a defensive line transfer from Miami (Fla.), from fully participating in practice early during fall camp. Simpson, a sophomore, later rejoined the team in full over the last week.

"Donta Simpson had a medical condition that prevented him from practicing until about the 11th of August, and then he was in a return to play protocol," Drinkwitz said. "He's been totally cleared. He's ready to go.

"He took every rep tonight he was supposed to take."

Simpson played 105 snaps as a true freshman last year at Miami. He recorded four tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and three pressures. He did not play during the Hurricanes' run to the College Football Playoff national title game. He is expected to compete for snaps and playing time in Mizzou's defensive interior this season.

Kind of an interesting maneuver here. Three defensive backs were booted from Vanderbilt; two of them were low four stars on 247. The highest-rated amongst them has already enrolled at VT and is able to practice with the team yet he is ineligible to participate in games this season.

Prob too late for Hayden Lowe to try this, but i imagine even if Cam Vaughn won’t be eligible, he wants to enroll at his future school asap so he can at least practice with the team. Not sure whether or not the timing (the player was dismissed in March after enrolling in January) and the in-between juco school (is transferring from a juco he enrolled at, for summer classes i presume) are necessary factors for making this legal and not considered an Xavier Lucas-ghost transfer.

This is about the fourth or fifth Jimbo returning story I’ve seen since new years.

I think he’ll be back next year somewhere, Brian Kelly will get a shot to redeem himself too but not sure the proper job opens up for him this go around…may need to wait another cycle. The nostalgia hires wouldn’t shock me for either man (FSU + Cincy).

Will be a bit interesting to monitor because Mullen (54) had to get it out the mud outside the p4, but can’t see Kelly (64) or Jimbo (60) that at their age.

I think Colorado and Baylor make sense for Jimbo’s landing spot; Brian Kelly is more for Maryland, Purdue type options imo. If NC State crashes and burns, I could see them hiring either guy

He never made it to training camp so for all intents and purposes no. The conferences have been treating his type, undrafted guys who worked out at rookie minicamps, differently than the training camp invites who played in preseason games
