MEGA 2026 CFB SZN Thread, Nationwide; Non-Miami Specific

So I didn’t know when they said the previous rules still apply for people who enrolled in 25-26 or prior, that they also meant eligibility lity exemptions and such could still apply. Will be interesting to see how this plays out because i thought even athletes who were already enrolled were ineligible to have hardship waivers/redshirts.

That doesn’t appear to be the case; which means Luka Gilbert and possibly Jaboree Antoine aren’t going to lose a year of eligibility—alongside Lj Cason as well. So medical waivers aren’t gone until all the class of 2027 guys and older graduate. I guess this also technically means that guys in the 2026 and 2027 early enrollees can still be regularly redshirted; although I don’t see how those are of any benefit now.

Coach Jason Eck said Thursday that Layne, who had been limited during preseason camp while rehabbing the initial offseason surgery, received a second opinion about the elbow.

"We really feel for Jack," Eck said. "He's a great competitor, he's someone who absolutely loves football, loves being a part of it."

Eck added that Layne filed a waiver to return for an extra season in 2027 following his first surgery, and that the expectation is it will go through. Layne, who followed Eck from Idaho to New Mexico, started all 13 games last season and set a single-season team record for completion percentage (65.1), finishing with 2,486 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. The Lobos went 9-4 and finished tied for first place in the Mountain West.

Jack Layne enrolled at Idaho in 2022. He redshirted, and this upcoming season is his, fifth year, senior redshirt season. I thought the injury meant his collegiate career was over; but it appears it’s far from over.

I’d be so mad if i were a d1 athlete in the class of 2021 lol. Basically let anyone who redshirted in the class of 2016, and everybody from the classes of 2017 to 2020 then class of 2022 redshirts & younger feast with the extra season of eligibility while not doing 💩 about their ‘21 class, did them foul af. And at least some of the ‘22 are seizing their chance to get back. But classes of ‘21 and ‘22, especially the former, got kilt with bad timing & neglect.

Why are they razzing McElroy about his preseason top-4 making final four? That's the way it should be, any other way you are admitting you didn't rank the teams properly.

Could be a consequential case for basketball and football if he gets approved. As far as I know, no one in the high school class of 2021, who has left and tried to come back, has gotten approved even if they redshirted due to injury.

Kaufman-Renn filed a motion in Clark County seeking a temporary restraiing order and preliminary injunction against the NCAA.

This would double the impact of the new rules because as of now, it separates the past and present with current student-athletes, but not future, being able to choose whichever one was more advantageous for their eligibility.

If a class of 2021 redshirt senior were considered wronged & it withheld future legal scrutiny, that’s a whole other class of players that may comeback presuming they didn’t play in a professional game.

Moreover, right now the assumption is that redshirt seniors like moten and McCoy have exhausted their eligibility. If Kaufman were to be approved, it’d open the door for all redshirted players — Mykah Newton, Chris Ewald, Darian Mensah, Samson, etc. — to have five seasons of competitive eligibility.

Not everyone would take that fifth year; just stating that a TKR victory would inevitably lead to others challenging the rule.

I believe it’s unlikely, highly unlikely, he wins in court but I can’t call it ofc.

One of the reasons is this is an interesting case is because of what’s happened to that New Mexico starting quarterback I posted about earlier. He’s class of 2022, out for the year, and expected to receive a waiver to allow him to play in 2027. His case mirrors TKR’s in a way.

Having that alignment from the top down is crucial, so they have that checked.. They have a QB and they hit portal HARD to give him weapons, that offense will atleast be a fun watch and pain in *** to deal with.. Questions on talent and depth on defense but I want to see how Lupoi combines his scheme with the Hutchings who is coming from under Vikings Brian Flores last couple of seasons..
 
Only Malik Bryant made the Mizzou depth chart and he’s second string DE. I guess we can include Chris Graves Jr who is starting however was really a Manny recruit. No Bobby Washington or Donta Simpson.

Tommy Kinsler expected to be the starting RT for Ole Miss, not official yet tho.
