Sometimes it’s not just about good stats against good competition i.e. Ny Carr who fits the bill.

9 WRs listed on Wake Forest’s depth chart and Ny Carr ain’t on there. WR is sneakily a tougher position to evaluate than it seems.

I wish Kinsler stuck around. Probably would have been in the rotation this year but if he’s getting the starting nod at Ole **** then good for him
 
Markeith Williams is in a camp battle for a starting safety spot; if he doesn’t get it, still expected to play a lot as their third safety for OK State according to reports I’ve read.

Seems like Daylen Russell will play this year, possibly as DT4 for Louisville. No official depth chart for Louisville yet. Deryc Plazz will play for Auburn this year, it appears. Auburn listed firm starters at both tackle spots and center; then listed 3 co-starters at each guard slot. Plazz was one of the three for LG.

Despite ECU’s HC saying he would be a starter in the slot in the spring, Ray-Ray Joseph is listed as a backup at slot. Was beat out by a fifth-year named Brock Spalding. He didn’t even get the OR designation that Emory got as a co-starter at qb (even tho Mitch G. Will be the real starter).

So tight end is Indiana’s weakest position, unless this development has progressed:



Nothing i see suggest it has. Benedict Schott was out during their spring ball period so an unremarkable sophomore took first team reps. It appears IU will only play three guys; but their writers consider it a mystery on what the distribution of snaps will be. There’s a freshman who is unlikely to start given Cig’s propensity for older players and then there’s Benedict Schott who was deemed less impressive than Luka Gilbert & is in general not a good guy.

But for now, virtually all the reports pencil in mister Benedict, returning from hip surgery, as their starting TE. We’ll see if that fifth year guy returns to IU or not. Easier for him since he got no NFL looks.

Yeah dude, ****** bleak. I’m going through all of our outgoing transfers and i almost didn’t google him because the ECU HC literally said he would be a starter when talking about the TD pass Emory threw him in their spring game, and contrasting him with Emory who was an unknown as far as starting goes at the time.

Fast forward to now, and Emory still has OR listed beside his name even though he isn’t starting, and Ray-Ray got beaten out by some white fifth year WR who was barely a three star. Wouldn’t be surprised if drops were the reason he lost the job.

Listed as the same height as the guy ahead of him lol. Agree on the speed although i always thought he was a quicker than fast type of guy when we were trying to flip him from Clemson. Anyway, neither here nor there anymore.

We’re loading up our WR room with straight up gamebreakers now.
 
Conclusion: relying on the portal is fool’s gold. Its importance has been overstated. Definitely an integral part of team building however, ‘they’re not sending their best.’

Small, elite portal classes of a baker’s dozen to eighteen seem optimal for anybody who isn’t a first or second year HC at their program. If you are taking in two to four dozen (24-48) new transfers going into year 3+, something has gone deeply bad. I think when there was still a second portal window, it was more important to remain vigilant, yet still, your HS recruiting classes should always be larger than your portal classes as a rule of thumb (sans the 1st and 2nd year HCs imo).

CONT……Good game from Amari Wallace in a loss against Eastern Michigan. 7 total tackles, 2 solo, 1.5 TFL.

Nesta’s younger brother, a sixth year senior at safety, led Sacramento State w/ 13 tackles, 2 solo, and .5 TFL.
 
Artavius Jones isn’t among the top 5 protected DTs for UCF. I thought this kid would make it here, a shame. In other news, Nyjalik Kelly made the Packers practice squad.

Jadais Richard is out for the season for Tennessee. Seems like he was slated to play for them this year too. In related news, former Miami commit Tim Merritt is projected to be their fourth cornerback in his absence; how much he will actually play is a larger unknown with the principal corner ahead of him being a sophomore who made 3rd team all-SEC as a freshman. Former STA DB Isaiah Hardge is the backup nickel back.
 
Surprised Fitzgerald wasn’t even on there considering the hype he has gotten since the spring game. Greathouse and Graham are mid. Quincy Porter will probably takeover that spot once he returns for injury, which should be by the time we play them.

Bubba Frazier went to school with the Scroggins twins. He started impressing more and more in fall camp. Only true freshman listed. A bit of a gadget guy as he had more rushing TDs than REC TDs his junior year when playing with our guys.

I know it won't happen because of ego and money but a lot of these dudes would be far better off going G5 route, getting playing time and trying to make a name for themselves and then trying to get a big payday as a junior/senior off of that. Bouncing around from one P4 to another barely getting any playing time isn't gonna do **** for them and their development. Guys like Bobby and Donta are extremely raw and need all the reps they can get.
