A lot like Reneau. Good player around the rim with some decent handles in the post. Low % mid-range and 3P shooter. More like Indiana version of him... Malik hit almost 35% here and made more, attempted more, and hit at a higher % than 3 years combined previously (20/77 - 26% combined at Indiana and 26/75 - 35% here).
Gotcha. I’ve only seen clips but the jumper looked fairly smooth for a 4 from what I remember, and iirc he’s a good shooter from the stripe so I just assumed he’d wind up being a stretch 4

If Gaskins cant shoot, then that can make things tricky finding a physical big to pair with him and Shelton.

Gonna need Shelton and Dante to really develop that 3 point shot.

And that means the PG we get, its a non negotiable that he should be shooting around 38% or more.

I am starting to the Colorado is a showcase school for transfers.
It feels like guys go there to build a resume to prepare for a transfer.

Totally aligned on the PG front. We need someone that can replace Tre's playmaking abilities and ideally eclipse the 36% he shot from 3 this year, and this is why I don't necessarily see Cayden Boozer as the right fit with this group.

Gaskins can shoot but I don't think it's something we'll see him do a lot of initially. His game truly reminds me of a younger Bam Adebayo given his length, physicality and athleticism, but he'll need to be paired with a big that can step out and keep defenses honest from deep.

Agree on Boozer. Seems limited athletically, and shot 30% from three. I dont want to kick a player when hes down, but is he just a beneficiary of his brother?

Going from Renue to Gaskins will change the outlook of this team greatly. I read that Gaskins is great defensively and strong enough to cover the post. So I can an uptick in team defense.

Will definitely be interesting to see how Jai handles PG and C. As it stands, those will be crucial decisions to make.

This is the udeh replacement, hopefully Jai is already talking with his agent
Thing is, we will have a different team composition next year. I dont think you can replace Udeh with an Udeh type player. Gaskins is not Reneu, so keep that in mind.

Might need more offense and spacing than an Udeh type. Fru shot 50% from 3 (very small sample size) so maybe the shootong potential is there.

I know a lot of people want to see the shooting improve on the team and I do as well.
However, what Udeh Jr did this season should not be devalued.
He held down the paint, rim protected, rebounded and rim ran better than any C we have had at Miami in a very long time.
I want to see shooting improve but I don't want to sacrifice defense and rebounding, which are the foundation of the team.

The guy I would want as a PG is Rowan Brumbaugh from Tulane. He's 6'4 and has one more year left.

He's not in the portal yet, but is highly expected to be. He was the preseason American Conference player of the year last year. He averaged 19.2 points, 5 rebounds and 3.5 assists. He shot 45% from the field, 36% from 3 and 80% from the line.
