2025 Summer Ball

He was floating the idea earlier that Rob Evans has already gotten a couple offers and he still had several more starts this summer to show off to MLB scouts
Right but this was his question:
Do we worry about him signing a deal? Or is he a lock for campus return?

And this was his answer:
Yes, he is. Got to speak with some people surrounding his camp today.

To me saying "Yes, He is" doesn't make sense as a response to "do we worry about him signing a deal". That would be if it was Yes, we do.
But it does make sense as a response to "Is he a lock".... Yes he is...

But obviously he could be saying Yes He is to the implied "is he signing a deal" of the former...

Why would he bring up the question if we should be worried about him returning if he’s a “lock” to return?

I mean he asked both questions, then provided an answer. Answer is vague as to which he is actually replying to. But again, I'm taking it to be the latter question.

“Rob is looking at the option of pro ball but not for a bad amount. It would have to be something fair to persuade him to not chase a degree at Miami and a full season as potentially a starter.”

Thank you boss

So yes we should be worried if he continues to put up outing like he did tonight

Sheahans numbers are creeping up and are not all that different from Ogdens last summer. Obviously only half the AB's but assuming he stays consistent these last few weeks their numbers will be very close.

I like Evans betting on himself. But almost every ACC/SEC school has LHP that sits 90-91 with a limited track record and no elite out pitch.

Now for college if he continues to cut down on walks I think he can be a huge piece for us.

He should come back and prove himself as a starter. We know he has 94 - 95 in his back pocket when needed and his size and frame says he projects more as a starter to me.

But there's not enough of a track record yet for MLB scouts, if I am guessing (hoping).

I think his past numbers have been better. Other starts has been 92-94, maybe felt a little off in the arm.
