2025 Preseason

Was anyone at the scrimmage today?
I was there. Cold and sloppy is the perfect description.

I have some concerns about infield defense. Hudson is learning 1B, Ogden is a 3B playing SS, Cuvet is likely a 1B in the pros, Dorian is solid but probably a C in the pros. The corner OF is also a concern.

Torres in CF is legitimately outstanding but he bunted twice. The bat may take a while.

Answer about us in BA's preseason chat with similar reasoning to D1:
"It's certainly possible but will require several somewhat unexpected breakout performances to come to fruition. As you pointed out, Daniel Cuvet has the makings of a star after leading the Hurricanes in batting average (.351), home runs (24), runs (52), RBIs (75), slugging percentage (.736) and on-base percentage (.429) as a freshman last season. Around him, though are a ton of players who leveled up from mid- and low-major schools as well as JUCOs. With so much talent trying to make the step up in competition and without very much returning production on either side of the ball, it could be an uphill battle for the Canes in an absolutely loaded ACC."

Do you guys expect the Noles to take a step back? Lost a ton of their offense
No…they might be better. Obviously baseball you can get upset with a bad weekend. But they have Omaha type talent. Arnold on Friday night is going to get them a lot of W's and save their pen for Sat/Sun. If Leiter is healthy he could be just as legit on Sat or Sun whenever they run him out.

It sucks but their coach also develops with the best.

As a Miami fan we either need a magical year to turn things around or another absolute **** to move on from JD. Cant have a team a few games above .500 that looks ok at times that maybe sneaks into a regional as a 3.

That is exactly my prediction for Miami this year.
I was leaning this way...but I think we could be even worse.

If we are even just "ok" we should be 9-0/8-1 heading into UF. But Princeton and Niagara are just good enough and extremely well coached to each take a game if we kick it around.

But we should head into the UConn series 10-4ish if all goes well. That will be a great barometer for our season. We will have a bunch of game in, line up should be settled, arms should be starting to tick up and UConn is typically a very very strong Northeast program and are expected to be strong again this year. We will see very good pitching, hard nosed kids, they will swing it and they will jump on most mistakes.

I got ridiculed for saying it a year or two ago but the noles have the best coach in college baseball in my opinion….. and the really depressing part of it is his loyalty to the university will have him there til retirement.

He will win a national title at fsu and will be revered more than Martin because of it

I think there’s a world where the noles win a title before we win another regional that’s how far the gap is at this point

Yeah what he will do there is special. What JD will do here won’t be

Leiter will not pitch much if at all this year. Been the rumor for a while in the baseball circuits but link confirmed it today.

Haven't had a chance to watch it, but JD is around the 27 minute mark

What are their bats looking like? Will be hard to replace Tibbs, Smith, Ferrer and dinges
Won’t be nearly as good. They return some solid bats like their ss, cf, 2nd. They added some decent juco and transfers but don’t think they have near the power but likely more athletic. Will rely on pitching and manufacturing runs. The wild card is the freshman Carns and Bailey. Both have potential to have huge freshman years. I think they take a step back but with the arms they have they can win any series

I really hope Bailey doesnt get it going...or is basically Toral.

But unfortunately he is likely going to be a big problem...
