2024 Transfer Portal

There is hope, but besides lack of height and lateral quickness for many, we seem selfish and lazy on defense and rebounds. Too many heroes and too much dribbling/driving on offense contrasts with (Wong&Miller) play-making and teamwork. There IS a reason we are almost 70th in NET, not ranked in polls, and few expect us to be better than a 9-seed. Even so, we could gel and make a run if we again play top-gun come March, even from the 9-spot. But Coach L has some hard challenges ahead with this bunch (and bench.)
Our NET is in the mid 50s and we're in the top 30 of the polls.

We're 1 or 2 good wins away from being exactly where we expected.

It's way too early to be talking like that.

If you don't think Coach L has some challenges, you are unrealistic. Fortunately, he is up to those tasks and maybe our "talent" can get NIL and NBA off their mind and get with the program sooner rather than later. So far, its been a NO, which doesn't bear huge promise or expectations for some of us.

Seriously. And then talking about the Wong/Miller teamwork and playmaking? Wong would often just do it himself. So I had a look. It's early yet, but we're actually averaging two more assists a game than we averaged last year. The real challenge Coach L has is the same as last year - does Omier get in foul trouble? If no, we have a chance. If yes, we're likely boned.

No one said there aren't "challenges". Do you think there weren't "challenges" the last 2 years?

You're misremembering if you think all last season we were confident we had an elite team. After getting blown out by Maryland, we were concerned. After the horrific GT loss, we were concerned. After blowing an 8 point lead in the final couple of minutes vs Pitt, we were concerned. We didn't think to ourselves, "oh well, just a bump in the road on the way to the Final 4!"

The fact it hasn't been smooth sailing "so far" doesn't mean it's going to be that way the rest of the season - including March.

On what basis are you implying there are smooth seas ahead? Last year's (very) late season blossoming and catching fire? Wong and Miller were critical for that; just saying it's going to be a real challenge in my opinion for Coach L to duplicate that magic with this sometimes-sluggish crew. But we shall see... am hoping for the best.

It wasn't "very" late season - we lost 3 games after January 28th.

On the basis that there are a number of good players on this team and that L is an excellent coach. His teams usually get better as the season wears on.

Not to mention blowing a 20pt lead to FSU on our home court. I was devastated after that loss. Our worst loss of the season but they bounced back nicely. I am worried about the rest of this season. Can't have anymore injuries. Definitely no serious one's. Our depth leaves a lot to be desired for sure.
