2024 OL Isendre “Papa” Ahfua 2.0

To expect to sign arguably the top interior OL nationally that is from Washington State is unrealistic IMO, but our insiders kept telling the fanbase we were in such a good spot with Ahfua that is why you get the reaction.

Had they came on early this spring, and said Miami is in top group, were chopping wood, etc..they made it sound like Miami was firmly in the top spot for months and months.

You're not back in here trying to defend this ******* trainwreck are you cherry picking our few bright spots.

He said we're only getting 3-stars who are slam dunks.

This board (and the world in general) has a MASSIVE problem of thinking in anything other than black or white. The majority of existence is in the gray area. You're allowed to say recruiting isn't going as well as we need it to while also LOL'ing at saying we're only getting 3-stars who are slam dunks.

We're not getting the #1 class in the country, but we're not getting the 130th class either. Somewhere....in.....the....middle.

We signed two top 5 OT just last year. Neither were originally from FL. Also got one of the best DE from Washington State last year. In addition, our HC is a former Offensive Lineman. This wasn't unrealistic at all. Stop making excuses along with that ******* 5-7 record excuse in the other thread and just call it what it is.

But the top OL from Washington State, a Polynesian kid, is going to Texas Station???

Just something is off and money is part of it.

1-130 is a big **** range when your HC is supposed to be a recruiter mostly and not so much X's and O's. Sure we've got a few decent guys, but this recruiting cycle has been a massive ******* failure considering what was being invested in this program and also communicated on this board by a few.

well 1 and 130 - yeah of course somewhere in the middle but nice extremes.

we likely close with a good class not elite and not terrible.

So #65??

"Sure we've got a few decent guys" is not "it's clear we're only getting 3-stars who are slam dunks". You quoted my post to the other dude, I didn't quote yours. If he'd have said "it's clear we're going to get some elite prospects but not enough to make this class what we expect it to be", or something like you did, I'd have kept it moving. But he didn't. He said nonsense, so he got called out for it. I'm not defending anything here, but people also gotta chill out just a touch. We have some really good kids committed at the moment. We need to hang onto them and add more. It's not good enough. But we NEED a kid like Jojo, desperately. There are things to like about this class, just not enough of them. Yet.

I just don't get all the excuses, personally.

- Justin Scott was coming here, but momma said no.
- Jayden Jackson was a Poly and a priority, but OU allegedly has a strong poly community? Uhhhh ok....
- Ahfua nearly committed to us but all of a sudden A&M swoops in and distance is a factor to Miami? For a Poly kid...going to Texas? Why doesn't he just go to Utah then?
- EPJ has no distance factors apparently as what was considered a UCF and Miami battle is now A&M and Oregon
- Barney we refused to up the bag for, we have others higher in priority they said.
- Chris Cole is a legacy and should be a shoe-in for most programs, but the interest in us always seemed forced.
- We broke the bank for Stewart allegedly, but he ends up staying in the DMV area to a program that hasn't won more than 8 games since 2017.
- We've been on Kamorian Franklin for months, but we can't lock him up on his fifth or six visit down here? Meanwhile Auburn swoops in like nothing and might even be the presumed leader.
- Ellis Robinson apparently needs to see us win 9 games and then he'll flip? Really, just one season of going 9-3 will make him want to come here over UGA?
- Davion Mitchell had everything you want here and we lose ground the last 24 hours to a program with one notable TE in the last decade or so.

It just snowballs and snowballs until it flattens the fanbase.

Jojo Trader died?

Let's calm the **** down just a tiny bit here.
JoJo is an elite talent, but let’s not act like JoJo wasn’t all cane for a long time. He’s what Bain was last year… what separates good classes from great classes is the ability to recruit nationally too. We praised Mario last year for cleaning up the area his predecessors failed at.

We need to sign 6/7 OOS studs (top 200) kids a year.

Agree entirely except SC isn’t the DMV. Lol

We’re not even blaming Mario. It’s just clear something beyond that is killing is.

May as well rename the recruiting board, depression board. We aint paying, so we getn bodied. If we cant land players like this, forget about even bigger targets. Thought Cristobal said he got them to commit to winning. This is not committment to winning. U run out of targets slowly.

If we’re not paying, I’m not criticizing Mario on recruiting beyond 5-7 last year not being helpful. The gator won 6 games. Our 5-7 was way worse but they are funding NIL and it’s showing on the trail. I think it’s almost as simple as that.

not overpaying is probably the most disappointing. we aren't in a position to say nah here's the same offer you got from elsewhere which has a better track record of success. we need to bring in elite any means necessary until we start winning consistently. if we had 10 years of 10 plus wins then you can get away w not paying the suck tax

It's obvious it's Ruiz. We have other boosters but they obviously aren't putting up the type of money Ruiz did. Say what you will about him acting like a clown on Twitter and running his mouth but he actually backed up his talk with $$$. Now apparently we are balling on a budget. If you're not overpaying, you better not be 5-7.
