2022 RETURNING POSITION COACHES

I discussed this already on the recruiting board, but Rod Chance most likely comes with Mario.

Rod Chance is from Ft. Lauderdale, played & coached at STA, he’s also a good recruiter & pretty good coach.

If we could keep TRob & bring Rod Chance that’d be perfect, but I assume TRob will go elsewhere & Mario wants to clean house anyway, so I don’t see anybody on the current staff being retained.

Give me Doug Belk. Great young coach, heavily recruits the houston and georgia areas (GA native) and considered a good up and coming coach. He'd have to have all the DBs, though. JMO.

Is Corey Raymond still a wish list guy or has time passed him by? There are rumors on TD that he may not be on Kelly's staff.,

As for guys coming with Mario, besides Mirabal, I don't see any - maybe some support guys/analysts. Chance perhaps.

Raymond is an assumed lifer at LSU. I assume Kelly‘s first coach‘s 1-1 meeting was to introduce himself, to say ‘looking forward to working with you’…

I hear you but I’m just relaying the rumors on TD.

You'd know better than me but I feel like the vast, vast majority of coaching changes, there is at least some holdover from the previous staff. Can you think of one off the top of your head where a HC came in and didn't keep a single guy who was there on the previous staff before he arrived?

I could see him keeping someone like T-Rob and telling Marcel Yates to stay on the west coast, where he's been his entire life.
It really just depends.

When Sam Pittman got the job at Arkansas after Chad Morris got fired none of the coaches from Morris’s staff stayed.

When Kirby Smart took over at UGA after Richt got fired, he cleaned house, none of the coaches from the Richt regime stayed on with him.

Same with Justin Wilcox when he got the job at Cal after Sonny Dykes, no holdovers.

There’s more, butting really just depends, sometimes they’ll keep someone on to make the transition easier for a year & then replace them, but sometimes they want a completely new group of coaches.

This is just my guess, but based on what’s prevalently known about Mario he wants autonomy with his message on his staff & I would imagine that keeping any coaches from Diaz’s regime wouldn’t be his ideal situation. He’s worked with Coach Field before in an off field role as a recruiting coordinator, but other than that, maybe Hickson sticks, idk...

But I think Mario will likely clean house, unless he doesn’t feel like he has enough time to assemble a new staff.

I’d take Doug Belk in a heartbeat, I posted on him in 2020 in my CB’s coaches thread, but Idk if he’d come here.

Corey Raymond has always been a LSU lifer, if Brian Kelly doesn’t retain him he’s more of a psycho than I thought.

I don’t see any scenario where we get Corey Raymond, even if he’s not retained by Kelly (which would be the dumbest thing he could do) I don’t think he comes here.

Don’t see anyone following other than Mirabal and Chance. Williams has been with him dating back to Bama but he’s getting some heat for ST play there as of late.
I see Williams being more of the gray beard on staff. He was at some point Saban's right hand guy..

Hearing Danny Miaz will be brought in as DC. Can’t 100% confirm this year though

Field was on staff at Oregon in 2018 as Dir. of Recruiting under MC - iirc Field came to Miami to be near his daughter. Seems to reason he has a higher % of being retained.
