2022 RETURNING POSITION COACHES

Moorhead is the new HC at Akron, so he’s out.

Assume Mirabal.

@Liberty City El, what is your opinion of McClendon, the WR coach?
McClendon is a good recruiter from the Mark Richt tree, he played for Richt & coached under Richt for the first 8 years of his career.

He was the first choice to be the WR’s coach for Richt before he hired Ron Duggans.

His wife apparently didn’t want him to come to Miami & he’s also very very close with our former RB’s coach Thomas Brown, so it’s high probability he doesn’t have a very high opinon of Miami as a program lol.

Also, his reputation is mainly as a recruiter, not necessarily as a technically savvy coach, so Idk how that would go.

Maybe Mario really likes him & can convince him to come to Miami with him, but we’ll see how that one goes.

& I'm a 90's baby.

There are guys worthy of retaining but whether Mario wants them or not is the question. Also, I’d have to check Oregon’s staff and see how his coaching staff is broken down. We’ve oddly used a CB coach and S coach here along with an ILB and OLB coach. I know Air Raid coaches often use inside WR coaches and Outside WR coaches. So it really depends on the coordinators Mario (if he’s the guy) brings in

Mirabal is part of the Columbus Crew, and Mario’s OL coach. He’s in Oregon because of Mario.

Alex Mirabal, a high school teammate of Mario Cristobal, has been the one constant on the staff during Cristobal’s career as a head coach. Mirabal came to Oregon to coach the offensive line in 2018 after spending all six years with Cristobal when he was the head coach at FIU. Prior to the 2021 season, Mirabal added the title off associate head coach – offense to his duties coaching the offensive line.

During six of his nine seasons as a head coach, Cristobal has entrusted Mirabal with the development of the offensive line. For the first six, Mirabal served as assistant head coach.
@MiamiChris, you were referring to McClendon, weren’t you? You’re right, and LCE covered that in his answer.

Any chance we keep Likens? He might be the best WR coach we’ve had since George McDonald.

I could see Mirabel, McClendon, Williams and Chance coming with him.

The rest of his assistants have ties to the west coast mostly so not sure they come cross country.

None of them have shown anything that warrants them irreplaceable.

Would like to see some of the off the field guys get replaced as well.

The majority of Mario’s staff is West Coast guys that came from the Chris Ault coaching tree at Nevada.

And a few others who spent time at San Jose St under either **** Tomey or Mike MacIntyre.

He has mainly West coast coaches, with a few South guys mixed in.

Can he convince the West coast guys to come with him? Maybe, it’s entirely possible they really like working with Mario & wanna follow him to Miami, but in most cases that doesn’t happen very often.

We’ll see on that front.

I’m sure I’m gonna get asked 100 times my take on Tim Derutyer, I’ll save you the trouble, I’m not crazy about him lol.

Doses that mean he sucks? No. Does that mean you shouldn’t like him? No. It mean If you’re asking me, I’m not high on him, so just for future reference, don’t ask lol

Don’t see anyone following other than Mirabal and Chance. Williams has been with him dating back to Bama but he’s getting some heat for ST play there as of late.
If he comes, I see Williams being more of the gray beard on staff. He was at some point Saban's right hand guy..

Maybe more as an analyst..

If Mario likes him maybe, but I doubt it.

Mario likes total control, I don’t see him keeping any coaches from the current staff.

You'd know better than me but I feel like the vast, vast majority of coaching changes, there is at least some holdover from the previous staff. Can you think of one off the top of your head where a HC came in and didn't keep a single guy who was there on the previous staff before he arrived?

I could see him keeping someone like T-Rob and telling Marcel Yates to stay on the west coast, where he's been his entire life.

****!

Well, I live by George Bernard Shaw saying: “We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.”

I need to download that urban dictionary
i use slang on here bc life is much more serious. on here it's like locker room talk with the boys.

**** this is easy, with Lashlee gone we will obviously need a new OC and QB coach. With Diaz gone we will need a new DC. ST was horrible so bring someone to run that.

For position coaches, we will need a WR if Likens leaves with Lashlee. Definitely bring in another LB coach.
