Unless we find a portal LB, we could see our first starting Freshman LB since 2016.
Yeah it will be interesting to see who the new DC is. Manny not putting much emphasis (that’s generous) on Lb recruiting for his defense puts us in a weird spot

I think we gotta hit the portal

Look here, I’m a huge fan of Wes, and I can’t wait til he hits the field, but y’all do know that he doesn’t have to start right away, right???? What are y’all saying.

1. You don’t know what sort of defense scheme Miami will run. This isn’t Manny’s team.

2. As I mentioned, THIS IS MANNY’S TEAM ANYMORE. So we could easily see a lot of guys transitioned to better fit position. I.e Thomas Davis moving to LB (where he should be), Chase Smith moving to LB. Gilbert Frieerson, Keontra Smith, etc… all moving to LB. Maybe even move Chantz Williams to OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

3. We still have good serviceable LBs on the team that I’d take my chances on playing before Wes. Sam Brooks, Waymom Steed, Chase Smith, Tirek Austin-Cave.

Overall, you all shouldn’t just expect a kid like Wes to come in and start day 1. That’s dumb. Miami has talent at LB. Just doesn’t have depth.

Give me Chase Smith, Keontra Smith, Tirek Austin-Cave, Wesley Bissainthe & a Portal backer & let’s roll!

If we’re sticking with the 4-2-5, we need 6 for the 2-deep, if it’s a 3-4 we’ll need 8...

But the main 5 should be them & let one among Troutman, Flagg, Brooks, Huff & Tyler Johnson decide how bad they want it to be the 6th man.

Really like Cave, travesty he didn’t see more time this year.

Miami Central linebacker Wesley Bissainthe has impressed many with his abilities on and off the field.

The four-star Miami signee has also impressed his new coach of the Hurricanes.

Mario Cristobal gushed about the 16th-ranked linebacker according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

"Those who have watched him play know that he’s an instant difference maker for us,” Cristobal said. “Long, rangy, physical, instinctive, a knock-back tackler, extremely effective in the pass game as well.”

Bissainthe, pronounced 'bis-saint,' will look to cap off an impressive career in the 5A state championship game on Friday (1:00 p.m., Spectrum) against Merritt Island.

“He’s coached by (former Hurricane) Roland Smith so you know he’s going to be ready to play with that mentality, hard-nosed approach to football, disciplined, carries a lot of value,” Cristobal said. “In the top 300 at ESPN, in the Top247 player as well, playing for his third state title. There’s a lot to be said about a player captaining a team playing for a third title. I can’t say enough about him, getting to meet his family, meeting his coaches, a great support system. He really embodies what Dade County is all about.”

Miami has been plagued by sub-par play at linebacker in trying to replace four-year starters Shaquille Quarterman and Michael Pinckneytwo years ago.

Bissainthe, by the sounds of it, will have every opportunity to make an immediate impact when he arrives on campus.

“Arriving in a situation like this where you need depth at that position, you need guys who can make an impact right away and we see him as a guy who can be an impact player that can certainly make a difference right away and we’re going to make sure we get him ready to do so,” Cristobal said.

☝🏽This is what Mario said the day Wes signed his LOI.

And you should look into in his Oregon teams, he played high ranked TF’s all the time.

Mario doesn’t give AF about seniority, he plays the best players regardless of age.

The always deferring to seniority stuff was literally the staple of the Diaz era.
