I like Cave equally. But your main point is correct. We need this Hyppolite's athleticism. He is a Miami kid all the way.
That Greene kid committed to FSU is an elite athlete but it’s a night and day when you see his film compared to the way hyppolite film jumps off at you. Hyppolite actually PLAYS like a high 4.4 or low 4.5 guy and that’s very evident

Being honest...this class - for a honeymoon class - kind of stinks.

None of these names realistically remaining are even all that exciting.

Man, we need recruiters on this staff.
I dont think this is a honeymoon class at all. We were at a very low point in the program and although there was hyped results is all that matter with top end kids.

I mean, the first full recruiting class by a new coach should pop high, man. Its a honeymoon class for every other 1Y head coach in America...so why are we any different? Because the class is "popping" in the 20s?

We need to be honest about the state of this team and their efforts.

The recruiting class has some nice players, but its not a Conference Championship caliber class. I'm not sure its the type of class that gets us out of the middling space we currently occupy.

I dont even put it all on Manny at this point...we have a staff of **** recruiters and the result is underwhelming so far.

yes, i'm using 3 stars who turned into studs in the most important position group on defense as evidence that he can recruit
That's not evidence he can recruit. If anything it's evaluations, taking someone that under-ranked that everyone else is overlooking. While that's part of the puzzle, a better case would be if you can find someone, that everyone is after, who's mind he changed.

so it doesn't count when you evaluate and sign elite talent before anyone else? ok
Sure it counts but it's not evidence that he's an elite recruiter (and I think you're using the term "elite" to loosely). The only one close to elite may be Roussou and I don't believe he recruited him.

It's different for us because Manny over-hyped the team pre-season and said we will win early then preceded to schit the bed the first half of the season. It was a bad look particularly with OL prospects because it looked like we were lost.

Now that it's turned around he has to continue and finish strong and we could pluck a few off that list.

OL recruiting is flat out worrisome. Especially after we got a good look at this team early in the year, OL recruiting should have responded in kind where no stone went un-turned.

Now, maybe it did and we are not privy to that information, but we have gone months with nary a peep of new offers on the OL. Its very concerning, even if we've seen a little improvement from the unit. The OL was so bad early, you know, with certainty the backups on this team are some slop currently, so I see the need for OL in numbers and quality to be paramount in recruiting.

In ability to close or evaluate an RB2 for this class. Some really disjointed WR recruiting trying to fill out the class. Lack of interior DL recruits. I like some of the linebackers, but they are all by definition three star types. Lack of difference makers at DB. I don't see any specialists being recruited.

It would not shock me if this class is similar to the 2012 class when its all said and done. Its a large class, but when it was all said and done, it was really just Duke Johnson, a few solid players - some would be middling pros, and a bunch of jobbers with lots of attrition.

That class ended up going 30-21 with three consecutive losses in bowl games.

Wtf? Almost every new coach(=honeymoon class) is coming in because the program was at a very low point and fired his predecessor.

A few things about Kentron Poitier...

At this point, I'm shocked we haven't put on more of a full court press. He had a solid senior season. I'd like to see him make more contested catches over non-midgets and he needs a lot of work on route running - run a ton of curls for my liking, but there's enough splash plays where you'd think a WR Coach with 4 spots or whatever wild number we have would like to take a risk on a 6'4" two-sport wide out from the Grove. He's much rawer than Stefan gives him credit being in his write up, but he's got an immediate ++ tool that can be used right out of the gate. With Evidence Njoku and Brian Hightower leaving the program (WRs with some size), I see a role for this kind of player in the class. I'd prioritize Doug Emilien over Tron, but I'd take both and call it a day at WR *shrugs* Not sure I see a better play this late in the season. I don't see the overlap with Worsham, either, considering I think Worsham projects in the slot a bit more and Poitier a pure X-WR.

@Stefan Adams , why didn't we ever get involved with Marquez Bell? Lots of people liked TJ Jones last year and Bell looks a lot like him, to me. Good athlete, really productive, good enough size, good senior tape. To me, he looks like a real good get for USF and a Power 5 player, but why no big three or even that Auburn/Penn State type of interest? I thought it'd eventually get there, but I guess not. Thoughts?

Still don’t understand why it is so hard to get oline guys with all the skill player talent. I would think opening holes for our RBs and giving Jarren serious time would be valuable. A quality Miami draws a lot of press. Stock would rise quickly. Idk.
