Tell me our offensive line will be better (or a lot better) in 2018. And tell my why and how.
Cant think of anything more important for next year. Our OL was an incredible force multiplier for opponents this year.
Not being able to run, unable to get short yardage, near hopeless in first and goal situations, and having your QB assaulted on a regular basis is no way to go through life. Not where we wanna be when Jesus comes back.
Imagine this season with a good OL? We would have rolled over everyone. ****, maybe Rosier looks a lot better behind a real OL, with a running attack and pass blocking?
Anyway, tell me we will be better. Lie if you must, make up ****, but I just want to hear it.
Darling and McDermott graduate
This isn't John Rochford or Tyler McMeans bad. We are pretty good and are recruiting at a high level.
Darling and McDermott graduate
Addition by subtraction
We have a solid OL. Teams like FSU have bad OLs. Look around the country and you will see what mediocre and bad OLs look like.
The question is: how can we become a great OL like the teams in the Playoff? We are obviously not there. I don't see us making that leap next year, but we can get better.
St. Louis has been trending up and is one of the better pass protectors in the ACC. Left tackle is the natural progression for him. Searels wants Donaldson to take over at RT. His length will help him there. We tried those two at those spots in spring and it didn't work. They've come a long way since then.
I'd like to see us move Gaynor to C and Gauthier to LG. Gauthier played great there in 2016. He would be an upgrade over Darling.
I'd also like us to hit the grad transfer market for a blocking TE and/or FB. Those spots aren't the most desired in the pros, so there should be good, physically mature players willing to play a 5th year.
The two guys I'm expecting big things from on the OL are Delone Scaife and Zalontae Hillary. Scaife is a smart monster and will be here for spring. I see him winning a job.
Hillary missed camp but came on strong during the year. He has really good feet and balance. And if Herbert can keep progressing, he is very physically talented with a good attitude.
