McKitty just showed up to FNL decked out in gators gear and just said UF is on top despite the fact he's committed to Miami and is open to other programs.
Hate to say I told you.... but I told you.
Him and his two close friends. 2017 DE Zach Carter and 2017 RB/ATH Devan Barrett all made a pact to play together in college.
Carter listed UF his leader just the other day.
That's four-star 2017 tight end Tre' McKitty, who is on campus tonight for Friday Night Lights.
"They're up there," McKitty told 247Sports' Luke Stampini of the Gators. "I'm a hard commit to Miami, but I still have my eyes open. I still have two years left and I have my eyes open to other schools, and Florida's at the top.
McKitty, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound tight end from Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Catholic, has been to Florida quite a bit in recent weeks.
He's back -- sporting a blue Gators shirt, no less -- because he wants to see more.
"Just to get another feel for the place, talk to the coaches a little bit," McKitty said. "I was down here last week. It was easy to get down here, so hang out with the coaches some."
Florida defensive line coach Chris Rumph has been McKitty's primary recruiter to this point. McKitty could potentially play defense at the next level, but the Gators asked him where he prefers to play.
McKitty told the staff he'd like to play on offense, so tight ends coach Greg Nord spent some time going over film with McKitty to show him how he'd be used.
"They would use me a lot," he said. "I would be down on the line as a Y or split out. They showed me different formations and stuff and how I would be used in the offense. It was just really good."
With a long way to go until the 2017 class inks, Florida will continue to recruit the Tampa native. The Gators are close, and they plan to use that to their advantage as much as possible as his recruitment unfolds.
"[Rumph's] just telling me to go ahead and come up here," McKitty said. "Of course I'm at Miami right now, but me and him have a real good relationship. We talk all the time. He just wants to see me up here."
McKitty is rated as the No. 261 overall player in the 247Composite, an industry-generated recruiting ranking. He also rates as the No. 7 tight end in the nation and the No. 38 overall player in the state of Florida.
GatorBait.net will have live updates from Friday Night Lights throughout the evening.
