2017 4 Star APB Anthony McFarland Jr Dematha MD

Dont do that. Sta isnt a flash in the pan brah....Their over 30+ years of domination.

There's not much schools in comp with them in the country...

Dematha is a power house program....but this aint new with what sta has been doing...that catholic league up there is known for bball.

I don't recall STA being a power in the late 80s/early 90s when I started following recruiting. Maybe I am mistaken.

And you're right, dematha is mostly known for BBall but they've been winning in football since the 60s. Lol

Their winning in an area where football isnt a priority.

STA has been winning since the 70's in the MECCA of High School Football....

Realize Dillard High School is right down the street from STA.....and Dillard has had a run at different times since the 80's.

I hate that i even have to vouch for sta...because the whole BROWARD county hate them..lol....So happy that my neighborhood Miramar teams handled them for a few years.

The scene has changed a bit up there. Before, you would see more prospects from the state publics, but now there seems to be a similar talent shift as what we've seen in Broward (Very top heavy, except it's all in the catholic league). If you followed football outside of SFL, then you have likely heard about schools like Dematha, Good Counsel, Gilman, and St. Johns (their biggest donor is the guy who own Under Armour). Until now, I haven't seen any of those schools loaded up with 4/5-star prospects like we're now seeing with Dematha. Their Dline has 2-5 stars and 1-4 star with offers from everywhere. Good Counsel had 1 year where they were loaded, but not like this.
You know the area. Eddie Goldman came from one of those schools, maybe Good Counsel??? I remember Gonzaga in D.C., as another Catholic League school. The Under Armour guy is now pumping money into Maryland's football program, trying to build it up.

If you pay attention to hs football from around the country, then you'll notice that this has been in a trend in other states, as well. New Jersey has recently formed the BNC, which has a division called the BNU comprised of the top catholic schools that are now national power houses. A lot of their local public schools began to refuse to play those schools due to the unfair advantages of superior financial resources which have helped them acquire better facilities and equipment, money for coaching, and talent from other areas in NJ and NY, Conn and Philly. LA metro created the PAC5, which are the best private schools in the area with a few power house public schools like Long Beach Poly, Coronoa, and Mission Viejo. The area that I do know well is SoCal (specifically Los Angeles). I have family that have played and coached in that area, where I have seen them play, coach, went to clinics, and I still watch their local games on FoxSports. Other than Corona and Long Beach Poly, you don't really see a lot of talent in their public schools, anymore. Maryland does the same thing with the catholic league. Only Southern schools including Texas and Ohio are the only talented states that haven't switched to this kind of structure. I think there has been discussions of something like it in GA, though.

per his twitter

He's exactly like Hamilton.

If Hamilton had offers from every major program in the **** country.

This^^^^^

But the porsters on this board gotta see lots of "stars" and "offers" before they believe. Never mind that the greatest WR in the history of football (Jerry Rice) played football at a division II school and wasn't heavily recruited. J.J. Watts wasn't either. Or Ray Lewis, or Ed Reed, or Reggie Wayne, etc.. I can list many more greats that weren't heavily recruited or with lots of stars.

The argument that "that was before recruiting sites took off" is bullshyt. Great talent evaluators find great talent and can develop it with a good coaching staff in any era.

Wonder if he has a better nickname than his dad?
Is this Booger's son?

I thought he was. Though I did find it odd he seemed to be in another state than Booger as I know Booger still lives around the Tampa area. Though that did not exclude it just gave warning bells. My initial search seemed to lead to it but I guess it was just people who were wrong also. I did another search last night and found a twitter account with an Anthony McFarland SR that seemed to have several things about this player on there and the persons account picture did not look like Booger. So I am going to lean heavily on me being wrong and that it is someone else.

Good stuff. Regarding Texas, you're right...you don't have the catholic schools those other areas have, but you have seen the gradual dilution of big time city powerhouses because of the proliferation of powerhouse suburb schools. Look at Dallas. Previous powerhouses like Roosevelt (Kevin Williams, et al), Carter (Armstead, et al) are no longer. Instead, the kids are playing for schools in the burbs.

I lived in the D.C. area for years. DeAths is a longtime athletic powerhouse. They've had a number of grads who have gone into the NFL, including Cam Wake. They're the D.C. area equivalent of St. Thomas Aquinas.

STA is a good comp except dematha has been doing it for eons

Chaminade is making a comeback as well. I predict they'll win a state championship in the next 2 years.

Maybe one day, STA will play CM.

I see you AU, I see ya!

Part of me loves Texas HS football staying as "pure" as possible, but part of me would really love to see an STA, IMG, BTW type school here where the kids could bunch up and get a totally stacked roster. Southlake program with Desoto talent? ooooooweeeeee

It's sad what happened to Dillard. They were a monster like carol city but just died off. From what I have learned, this was mostly
Because of redistricting?

Bad admin and redistrict...Also the up surge of U-School, American Heritage. Before STA was the only private school that could really snatch kids from Dillard's area....now you have STA, and like 3 other privates...to add to the usual of Boyd Anderson, Northeast that is Dillard's area. **** they lost Alex Collins to South Plant of all places.

Problem is they were switching coaches in and out...and just dropped off the map...but their academics have went up i believe...They have some good players this year on the team...Tyler Dunning got snatched to STA (He was a Dillard kid)...Sam Bruce technically is a dillard kid if they still had the power in the area...(though he would of ultimately been sta..but he started at u school early)...

Dillard, Plantation, STA were the big dawgs when i started high school in the 2000's. Then by the time i finished Ely was loaded....now STA out of that group is the only legit team...the broward soul bowl game Dillard vs Ely had HUGE CROWDS...

They wont. It didnt happen when i was in high school and Chaminade had their best teams ever.

Chaminade has some prospects for real. MCA on the come back as well....any one that can get footing at PPO will do well....my boy runs the optomist program at CARVER RANCHES park and they are usually loaded and the feeder program for Mcarthur, Hallandale, and Chaminade every now and then...

i told you BTW isnt really like that. It shocked me to see kids from HOMESTEAD there the last two years...not sure what that was about...but those Homesteak kids are really the first kids i can remember transferring...IN..to Booker T. For the most part BTW is OVERTOWN kids....Swag were not talking about a Fresh Prince of Bell Air High School...Booker T is smack down in the worst part of MIAMI...by Far....in a tight community that doesnt really allow outsiders in not even kids from Liberty City.

IMG isnt even considered a Florida School...no one mentions them around here...and they got beat by American Heritage a south fla school this year.

Swag if there was only one school in that Liberty City-Overtown corridor....Sweet BABY JESUS....There probably wouldnt be a team in the country that would keep it within 2 scores....its that serious...and thats witht he current bums they have coaching in south florida.

I haveno clue how Central get killed by Dematha...and American Heritage technically on a down year lost to Dematha by missing a extra point or a fg or something like that... Central is a better team than Heritage. Heritage has like 4 legitimate offensive lineman total on their team..(granted 3 of them are div 1 level) but they did alright against the VAUNTED Dematha dline. And i do mean vaunted Dematha dline was beastly when i saw them against Central.

Richt needs to lock up those Chaminade boys up

Colombi just transferred there.

They beat Madison County for their only championship, one year. The team with Dunlap and the DE that went to NC state. They lost in the title game the year before.

If they load up on prospects, it can get interesting. The real competition to get to the title game is AHD, Oxbridge, and Westminster. Westminster has lost a ton of prospects, and they'll be down, unless they pick up some top players. Their best young player is a kid called Dee Ford and Cheebo Norris' brother (Booker T - WKU) that will both go D1. For all the talk about Oxbridge being a Bolles in Palm Beach; Travis Homer is the only kid that we can name out of there and they lost to an AHD team that could have easily been beaten by WC. AHD, lost their top players from this years team. I think Chaminade has the most talent coming back in the section and whoever wins that section should roll through CCC. They can get to the title game, but I'm not sure if they can beat Jacksonville Trinity Chrisitian

The 2013 national championship was not the norm in hs football. Ice Harris ran Booker T, just like Rush Prost ran both Hoover and Colquitt County Hs, except with relatively meager resources. While some towns have middle school ball or optimist programs that send kids to one school, Ice turned the Overtown Rattlers into a legit developmental program. Those kids are ready to play by the time they get to booker t. That 2013 team was all overtown kids, except for Chad and I think another kid. They Beat 3 State champions (Norcross, Bishop Goreman, and Central) who were all top-25 teams. They also beat Uschool, Cocoa, and Bolles. Some of those games were blowouts. Look at all of the national champs, even from texas. Anyone can say to look at their talent, but look at the HSs in Texas. Whens the last time that a urban Texas team won a state title game? Desoto, Skyline, Alief Taylor, Cedar Hill and a bunch of others are always loaded but no titles. It's usually: Allen, Westlake, Lake Travis, SLC, or Katy.
